Showcase Keynote: VMware Tanzu and Your Kubernetes Journey [MOD3543KE]

VMware Tanzu has been introduced to transform the way enterprises build, run, and manage applications on Kubernetes. This session will focus on making the best use of Kubernetes to address the needs of both operators and developers. We will explore the elements of a modern software supply chain—digging into both Bitnami and Pivotal. Then we’ll define the impact of Project Pacific, our effort to embed Kubernetes in vSphere to give operators a platform to manage applications and developers self-service access to resources. Finally, we’ll provide an early look at VMware Tanzu Mission Control to manage all your Kubernetes clusters across environments with complete consistency. This keynote is led by the creators of Kubernetes, punctuated by customer stories, and packed with new technology previews.

Wednesday, 06 November, 14:00 – 15:00

SPEAKERS

Craig McLuckie, Vice President R&D, Cloud Native Apps, VMware

James Watters, Senior Vice President, Strategy, Pivotal

Eryn Muetzel, Director, Product Management, VMware

Managing Clusters: Project Pacific on vSphere & Tanzu Mission Control [KUB1851BE]

Whether you're planning to use Project Pacific to run Kubernetes on-premises in one data center, in multiple data centers, or in a hybrid-cloud environment, you'll most likely have more than one Kubernetes cluster to manage. In this session, VMware product managers will help you understand how your organization can use Project Pacific and VMware Tanzu Mission Control together to consistently and scalably enforce critical policies—like quota, access, networking, security, and backup policies—across multiple clusters running on vSphere, as well as in a hybrid- or multi-cloud environment. At the end of this session, you'll learn how, with both of these solutions together, you can safely enable developer self-service access to Kubernetes clusters across multiple data centers and multiple clouds, and help your application teams adopt DevOps and DevSecOps workflows to ship software faster.

Wednesday, 06 November, 11:00 – 12:00

SPEAKERS

Tasha Drew, Product Line Manager, VMware

Fabio Yeon, Sr. Staff Engineer, VMware

Run Kubernetes Consistently Across Clouds with Tanzu & Project Pacific [KUB1840BE]

Modern, containerized applications running on Kubernetes often run in a hybrid-cloud environment or across multiple clouds. Without consistency across those environments, enterprises with hundreds or thousands of modern apps will face a lot of complexity. That's why we've introduced VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid to provide you with a common Kubernetes distribution across those environments—vSphere (with Project Pacific), VMware Cloud on AWS, private cloud, public cloud, and edge—that includes common lifecycle management, so that you can empower teams to build scalable, highly resilient applications, without worrying about inconsistencies in provisioning, upgrading, and deleting clusters across disparate environments. In this 200-level session, you'll learn more about VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid; how it's built into Project Pacific; and how you, as VI admins and systems engineers, can consistently and easily manage the lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters running on vSphere as well as across multiple clouds.
