Price Reduction, Renewing Credits: More Reasons to Choose Azure Spring Apps Enterprise

Azure Spring Cloud Enterprise is a fully managed service from Microsoft built in collaboration with VMware. The Enterprise tier combines Microsoft's cloud expertise with commercially supported Spring Runtime and VMware Tanzu components.

Earlier this summer, we announced general availability of the Enterprise tier, receiving enthusiastic response both from teams that have already been using the service and from people new to Azure Spring Apps.

Hearing feedback, passing benefits on to customers

With higher levels of customer consumption since the GA milestone, VMware and Microsoft teams have been making behind-the-scenes optimizations in how we run Azure Spring Apps. We’re hitting economies of scale now, and we want to pass on the benefits to you. Customers also asked us for smaller base units to support smaller-footprint projects and trial use cases. We hope you take full advantage of these changes coming your way!

Effective  September 1, 2022,  customers will receive the following price reductions across Azure Spring Apps Enterprise:

  • The base price for the Enterprise tier has been reduced by 65 percent

  • The base unit for the Enterprise tier is now 6 vCPUs and 12 GB of memory

If you aren’t using the Enterprise tier already, we hope we’re making the argument more compelling. And for those of you who may not have tried Azure Spring Apps Enterprise yet, remember there is a $200 credit when you create your new Azure account.

Along with the price reduction, we'll soon be rolling out a new monthly recurring credit of 50 vCPU hours and 100 memory GB hours, so you get to explore the full breadth of features at your own pace. This grant will be applied to all existing and new pay-as-you-go user accounts by default, no additional steps needed!

How far would these credits go? To give you an idea, the Enterprise tier's base unit allocation of 6 vCPUs and 12 GB of memory will run for 8 hours and 20 minutes using the monthly free grant without any charges.

You can find out more details about these announcements on the Microsoft blog as well.

So how will you use your free Azure Spring Apps credits?

Once you’ve signed up for that new account, look at the quick-start docs to get your first Spring on Azure project up and running. Or check out this self-paced module to try out capabilities such as distributed tracing, scaling, and adding a Spring Cloud Gateway.

Where Azure Spring Apps really shines is combining the developer experience of Spring with the best that Azure has to offer. The built-in Spring Config Server automatically wires up your Spring apps. Once those are running, connect to Azure capabilities such as Cosmos DB and IoT hub, or pick from Azure’s wide range of data services to build out a real range of use cases with Azure Spring Apps.
