Is Cloud Foundry Still a Contender for Security & Compliance

Amid an endless stream of new and shiny, it’s worth taking a step back for a quick reminder of how familiar tech is often already great. In this presentation, we’ll explore the innate peculiarities of Cloud Foundry for security and compliance in highly regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, government agencies, and defence.
First we’ll explore the day-to-day and the main challenges in these contexts: For traditional security, it’s a lot of tracking and patching CVEs across large deployments. For regulatory compliance, it’s a strategy game of preparing suitable architectures, stitching multiple stack layers together, and collecting evidence for audits. (The fun part of course is when none of this is given any thought beforehand, and one has to backtrack and fix the entire deployment after the fact.
With that context in mind, we’ll then compare how big these challenges are within the contexts of Cloud Foudry, Kubernetes, and Cloud PaaS solutions, and attempt to draw some conclusions and takeaways.
Lastly, we’ll discuss what happens when one takes Cloud Foundry’s uniquenesses too far, and the surprising landscapes one can find oneself in by going that extra mile.

If the tests pass, the system automatically creates a pull request with the fix.

Here are three stories about how people are using Cloud Foundry now. What they’re doing with it, how it fits into their organization, and what lessons they’ve learned. There are not enough stories told about Cloud Foundry as there once were. This is odd since there are so many organizations using it to run critical parts of life’s daily infrastructure from banking, government, manufacturing, and so on. After this talk, there’ll be three stories to help raise more awareness and interest in Cloud Foundry.
Each story will be a different organization. Whether named or anonymized, it’ll be based on real-world usage and tales. These won’t be from just one “vendor,” but come from different parts of the community.
