Yesterday, we announced the Wavefront Enhanced Enterprise Dashboarding UX. This major revamp of the Wavefront dashboard and chart building capabilities started with a single goal: make observability in Wavefront even easier and more intuitive, for novice users. To make dashboard customization easier, we focused on speed. With our new UI, you can create a dashboard in just a few clicks. You’ll spend less time tinkering and more time extracting insights from your data. In this blog I highlight three new, easy-to-use features for creating awesome visualizations in Wavefront:

1. Creating and Editing Dashboards
2. Building Charts
3. Viewing Dashboards

Super-Fast Dashboard Creation

The new Wavefront dashboard editor allows you to quickly create truly useful dashboards so you can focus on what matters: keeping your customers happy. With all of your metrics at your fingertips, you can quickly find the data that’s important. Any engineering team, including Ops, Dev and SRE teams can quickly create dashboards and get rich insights into the performance of their environments.

Here’s how it works:

1. Drag the metrics widget onto the canvas.

2. Find and select your metrics.

3. Click Multiple Charts and you have a dashboard.

Building rich dashboards is easy with the new Wavefront Dashboard Editor!

Build Charts Without Query Language

The industry-leading Wavefront analytics engine has always given you the power to extract rich insights from your data. Now, with the new Wavefront Chart Builder, this analytics engine is even more accessible. You no longer have to learn our ts query language to unlock insights using Wavefront (although learning to create queries will help you answer your very advanced questions).

Here’s how it works:

1. Select a metric.

2. Choose filters.

3. Apply functions.

4. You’re Done!

Creating powerful visualizations is a matter of a few clicks!

Observability at a Glance

The classic Wavefront interface already supports many great dashboard viewing features. We added some minor updates in this release. You’ll still have the same capabilities to view multiple charts with hundreds of time series in a single dashboard, but the look and feel has been updated.

The highlights include:

  • Compare values across charts by pinning multiple hover legends.
  • Share a live view or snapshot view with your coworkers.
  • Use our more flexible time picker to choose the time window.

Go From Creating Dashboards to Deep Dive in Seconds

With Wavefront’s new UI, dashboards and charts are easy to create. You’ll drive insights from your data instead of tinkering with visualizations. You’ll be able to leverage all the analytics power behind Wavefront’s enterprise observability platform so that you can keep your applications running and your users happy.
