SD-WAN Leadership VeloCloud

Seven Years in a Row: Gartner Acknowledges Broadcom (VMware) as a Leader in 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant for SD-WAN

The number seven traditionally is associated with luck. But if you ask me, it takes much more than luck to be recognized for seven years in a row. I am very pleased to announce that Broadcom has been named a Leader in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for SD-WAN for the seventh time. We have been recognized as a Leader in this report every year since 2018.

In the 2024 Gartner Critical Capabilities for SD-WAN, Broadcom scored highest in the Cloud-First WAN use case, second highest in the Large Hybrid WAN use case, and second highest in the SD-WAN with Partner-Integrated Cloud Security use case.

Why choose VeloCloud SD-WAN?

I want to share seven reasons why we believe VMware VeloCloud SD-WAN is the best SD-WAN solution on the market today, in honor of our seven years as a Leader. From the original VeloCloud SD-WAN to VMware SD-WAN and back again, VeloCloud continues to set the standard as we expand into the software-defined edge.

  1. The path to edge AI: The global edge AI market, valued at $20 billion in 2023, is projected to surge to $269.82 billion by 2032, reflecting a CAGR of 33%, according to Fortune Business Insights. VeloCloud is uniquely positioned to support AI workloads at the edge with VMware Edge Compute Stack, which ensures seamless orchestration of edge applications and infrastructure across multiple sites with limited resources. Additionally, VeloCloud SD-WAN provides an optimized, secure, and flexible network that seamlessly connects AI applications at the edge to cloud and data center resources.
  2. Enhanced performance with VeloCloud SD-WAN: Our customers, who use consumer-grade internet broadband such as cable modem, 5G, satellite, for cost efficiency and speed, often face issues such as packet loss, jitter, and latency. VeloCloud’s Dynamic Multipath Optimization™ (DMPO) addresses these challenges by leveraging all available uplinks. It automatically reroutes business-critical applications to the next available link if the current one fails, and resolves issues autonomously, whether on a single or multiple links. As a result, applications consistently perform better over VeloCloud SD-WAN.
  3. Optimized for multi-cloud environments: VeloCloud SD-WAN is designed for cloud-native performance and flexibility, providing secure and efficient connections between users, branches, and cloud services while conserving data center resources. This architecture delivers robust, scalable cloud connectivity to meet the dynamic needs of modern enterprises. With over 3,700 gateways strategically placed across more than 200 global PoPs, VeloCloud optimizes data paths to SaaS and IaaS platforms.
  4. Integrated single-vendor SASE solution: VMware VeloCloud SASE, secured by Symantec, offers a unified SASE solution that combines top-tier SD-WAN and Security Service Edge (SSE) capabilities from VeloCloud and Symantec. This solution ensures secure, reliable, and efficient access to applications, providing a consistent user experience while safeguarding users, devices, applications, and data. It simplifies operations and supports enterprises in their cloud, workforce, and application transformation initiatives.
  5. VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator: This hosted service serves as the central hub for configuration and management, streamlining deployment and policy setup across branch sites. By reducing human error and enhancing network management, it optimizes IT operations and boosts network efficiency and reliability. The Orchestrator also oversees the VMware Edge Compute Stack, ensuring a comprehensive and secure edge implementation across diverse environments, from retail stores and factory floors to emergency vehicles.
  6. Effortless deployment: Deploying new branch offices is streamlined with zero-touch provisioning. Customers simply ship an edge device to a branch, where an employee plugs it in. The device then automatically downloads the latest firmware, network, and security policies, setting up the branch within minutes without IT intervention. Additionally, VeloCloud SD-WAN automatically categorizes and prioritizes over 4,300 applications out of the box, meaning your Zoom traffic has better priority over Facebook traffic by default. We have successfully deployed 9,000 edge devices in just nine business days.
  7. Flexible deployment options: VeloCloud SD-WAN offers flexibility in network management through either DIY or managed service provider (MSP) options. DIY provides enterprises with full control over network operations, while MSPs offer specialized expertise in designing, deploying, and managing SD-WAN solutions. This approach helps organizations address challenges, including the need to train and retain IT staff with hands-on experience, ensuring efficient and effective network management.
