We are pleased to announce that VMware Secure Access™, part of VMware SASE™, has been named a leader in The Forrester New Wave™ Zero Trust Network Access report, Q3 2021.
Zero trust network access (ZTNA) is based on the principal that no device, user, network, or packet is trustworthy. This is especially important as traditional network perimeters dissolve and apps, users, and devices can be located anywhere. ZTNA extends the security boundary beyond the data center and cloud to applications and users, minimizes the attack surface by trusting no one, and protects users, networks, applications, and data against both internal and external threats.
VMware Secure Access named a leader
The Forrester report evaluated 15 vendors across 10 criteria on their ZTNA product or service. VMware Secure Access was named as one of only five vendors in the Leader position and among the highest in the strategy category.
“Our evaluation found that VMware has superior inline security inspection and device posture security. VMware offers a broad set of inline security techniques like watermarking, risk scoring, and behavioral analysis. VMware’s ZTNA solution integrates well with its own endpoint protection as well as major third-party suites.”

More about VMware Secure Access and VMware SASE
VMware Secure Access is built on a ZTNA framework. It combines the consistent, more secure cloud application access functionality of VMware SD-WAN™ with the capability of VMware Workspace ONE. Cloud-hosted Secure Access is a remote access solution that offers multiple benefits over VPNs, providing exceptional and secure user experiences.
Secure Access is delivered through more than 150 VMware SASE points of presence (PoPs) around the world, operated by VMware and 120+service provider partners. SASE PoPs contain the full complement of VMware SASE solutions and provide the closest on-ramp to cloud and SaaS applications. This reduces latency and data center hairpinning, protects end users no matter where they are, saves enterprise IT the time and cost spent on a jumble of legacy point products, and ultimately results in delighted and productive employees.
As a cloud-native, scalable, proven solution, VMware SASE is an easy to consume one-stop shop for security and network services. The VMware Orchestrator provides a single pane of glass to manage business policy, configuration, and monitoring. Application access from the endpoint to cloud, SaaS, or data center is controlled by a common business policy framework, allowing granular control that’s simple to adjust and scale.
“Our Anywhere Workspace solutions, including VMware Secure Access, enable organizations to implement Zero Trust security by allowing only trusted devices and users to access applications hosted on premises or in the cloud. We believe this recognition by Forrester validates our strategy and we will continue to innovate in this area to support our customers’ journey to implementing an end-to-end Zero Trust security architecture.”
