Based upon the principles of software-defined networking (SDN), SD-WAN provides enterprises a revolutionary way to centrally manage their networks and plays a pivotal role in delivering critical business applications.

According to a report by Quadrant Knowledge Solutions, the SD-WAN market is projected to be worth $17.92 billion by 2024, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 53.6 percent.

But what exactly is driving this growth? Here are seven market trends propelling global SD-WAN adoption.

1. The Cloud

A major variable fueling interest in the SD-WAN market is an increased reliance upon cloud-based services among enterprises. Traditional multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) networks are insufficient to meet the connection capabilities that these types of bandwidth-intensive applications demand.

For example, SD-WAN solutions may come with granular visibility, which provides a holistic understanding of highly virtualized, complex environments. SD-WAN allows network administrators to put security policies in place, which determine what sort of threats should receive high versus low priority.

5. Hybrid Deployments

A hybrid cloud strategy enables enterprises to connect a private data center with a public or private cloud provider. 6. 5G
