Delivering Secure SD-WAN: VeloCloud, now part of VMware and Palo Alto Networks

Traditional branch networking is undergoing massive transformation brought about by SD-WAN, which accelerates and improves features needed to meet customer needs. A secure and reliable SD-WAN solution is critical for protecting data and providing reliable connectivity from and across branch locations to cloud environments.

As the adoption of SD-WAN continues to accelerate, users demand instant, reliable, and secure  access to information, data, and applications across all environments. VeloCloud, now part of VMware and Palo Alto Networks provide joint offering for secure and reliable connectivity between branch locations and the cloud.

The joint VMware NSX SD-WAN by VeloCloud together with Palo Alto Networks GlobalProtect cloud service and VM-Series offering delivers secure networking for access to enterprise and cloud applications, whether over the internet or in a hybrid WAN environment, while simplifying deployment, reducing costs and optimizing performance.

NSX SD-WAN by VeloCloud Integration with GlobalProtect Cloud Service

GlobalProtect™ cloud service delivers the Palo Alto Networks Security Operating Platform to remote networks and mobile users through a cloud-based security infrastructure managed by Palo Alto Networks. Organizations inspect and secure their SD-WAN branch by using the integration to route traffic to GlobalProtect Cloud Service, without having to deploy or manage an on-premises, hardware-based next-generation firewall. Using the one-click service insertion capabilities and policy management provided by the NSX SD-WAN business policy framework ensures that you can easily deploy and optimize your operations.

Together, Palo Alto Networks and VeloCloud, now part of VMware, bring best-of-breed security and networking together and offer flexibility and choice to our customers in their journey to digital branch transformation with secure SD-WAN.

NSX SD-WAN Edge by VeloCloud with Palo Alto Networks VM-Series

Organizations that require greater levels of control and customization available with an on-premises firewall can now benefit from an innovative solution for deploying an on-premises Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewall at the branch without increasing the hardware footprint.

VM-Series, the Palo Alto Networks virtualized next-generation firewall, is now available on the NSX SD-WAN Edge, providing one-touch insertion and zero-touch operations via the NSX SD-WAN Orchestrator. The NSX SD-WAN Edge (520v and 840) consists of a VNF (Virtualized Network Function) to run services such as the Palo Alto Networks VM-Series. NSX SD-WAN service chains traffic from the branch to both cloud-based and enterprise regional hub services, with optimized performance, security, and manageability. Customers benefit by eliminating additional devices at branch locations and reducing high truck-roll costs. NSX SD-WAN Orchestrator enables bootstrapping of VM-series, greatly simplifying operations. Once instantiated from the NSX SD-WAN Orchestrator, the VM-Series virtualized firewall can easily be managed using Palo Alto Networks Panorama.
