VMware SD-WAN Wins Ooredoo Partnership Award

Partnerships are the lifeblood of communications. We are excited and proud to announce that our partner Ooredoo has named VMware SD-WAN™ its 2020 Partner of the Year for the Connectivity Platform.

Ooredoo and VMware have lent their expertise to the Qatar Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) as they engage in a digital transformation effort to foster innovative learning, including e-learning and remote learning. MoEHE is the first Qatar government organization that has standardized its transformation on VMware SD-WAN, and this project represents Qatar’s largest VMware SD-WAN deployment.

As part of the Qatar National Vision 2030 goals, the country is working to implement innovative, high-quality, lifelong learning opportunities. Ooredoo is transforming the legacy networks of more than 300 schools with VMware SD-WAN. They chose VMware SD-WAN after a comprehensive testing and evaluation process to make sure that all of MoEHE’s networking and optimization requirements could be met.

“Ooredoo’s digital transformation partnership with the MoEHE sees cutting-edge technologies support new and innovative educational patterns, teaching strategies, and collaborative learning. Ooredoo is using best-in-class SD-WAN technology to assure the Ministry’s network performance and security, allowing MoEHE to focus on their day-to-day operations and delivery of the best education possible to the youth of Qatar.”

Sheikh Nasser Al Thani, Chief Business Officer, Ooredoo

In the wake of COVID-19, many students and academic institutions are seeing first-hand the need for better user experience and application performance. With VMware SD-WAN, MoEHE’s IT teams experience application-centric networking, with better and more granular insight into how schools are using their networks. The IT staff can achieve higher levels of automation, provisioning, management, and self-service changes.

“The MoEHE’s digital transformation with Ooredoo is enhancing communication between teachers, students, parents, and educational leaders in line with Qatar National Vision 2030,” said Mr. Ali Abdullah Al Buainain, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Shared Services Affairs, in a press release earlier this year. “E-learning and remote learning are helping to produce confident, self-reliant and hard-working critical thinkers who are equipped with 21st-century skills and values.”
