We’re beginning to see the light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel, but the landscape on the other end of the tunnel will be permanently changed. Telecommuting and working from anywhere are here to stay.
With this new normal in mind, VMware has introduced new options for work-from-home (WFH) SD-WAN subscriptions. These subscriptions are built around the needs of two kinds of employees: Standard users and power users. Let’s look more closely at each type of user and the work they do.
Standard users: WFH Subscription
Standard users use standard business software, for example SaaS apps such as Microsoft 365 or Salesforce, and usually don’t need to transmit huge files. With the VMware SD-WAN™ WFH subscription, these users can connect up to three business devices to their VMware SD-WAN Edge, and they can enjoy up to 350 Mbps of throughput.
Power users: WFH Pro Subscription
Power users need more bandwidth for critical tasks. Examples include radiologists, working from home or from a mobile imaging center, who need to send and receive large imaging files without errors. CAD designers transmit and manipulate huge amounts of graphical data. Or consider the call center worker, who can’t afford a dropped VoIP call in the middle of a transaction or help desk session. These employees can connect up to six business devices, with throughput of up to 1 Gbps.
Either subscription can be used with any VMware SD-WAN Edge hardware. Both subscriptions include direct SaaS and cloud VPN access, and improved app reliability and performance.
Added benefits of WFH subscriptions
VMware SD-WAN WFH subscriptions enables powerful features that make working from home easier. Installation is designed to be simple and easy to set up for home users, without any corporate IT tickets. Network segmentation enables the separation and prioritization of business apps/workloads compared to personal apps such as online gaming, casual emailing and others.
Enjoy rich client experience with smarter edges
Both subscriptions include access to VMware Edge Network Intelligence™, a vendor-agnostic artificial intelligence for IT operations (AIOps) solution focused on the enterprise edge. VMware Edge Network Intelligence gives IT administrators new insight into non-enterprise networks, including home Wi-Fi networks, to analyze and remediate common WFH problems such as dropped VoIP calls and jittery video conference connections. The interface also gives home users some insight into connection problems they can fix themselves.
