The MEF 2019 Awards were held last week and we’re excited to share that VMware (VeloCloud) was named a 2019 MEF Awards winner for SD-WAN in the Technology Solutions Award category! Our partners AT&T (Network & Service Innovation), Windstream (SD-WAN Service Provider of Year for North America), Equinix (NFV Infrastructure), QoS Networks (Enterprise Application – Retail), and Ekinops (NFV) were also winners in the specified categories. The MEF awards “recognize excellence and innovation in the global community committed to providing communications solutions optimized for the digital economy. MEF’s awards program is the largest in the world focused on emerging dynamic network services powered by SD-WAN, Carrier Ethernet, LSO, SDN, and NFV technologies.” Check out the MEF press release for more information.
MEF is an industry association of 200+ member companies, and is the driving force enabling agile, assured, and orchestrated communication services that empower users with the dynamic performance and security required to thrive in the digital economy. VMware was a founding member of the SD-WAN working group at MEF and also contributes to ONUG AIOps working groups. ONUG and MEF recently announced their collaboration to drive standards for SD-WAN Services. This partnership is important because ONUG now sources and refines use cases, while MEF can drive these uses cases into standards. At VeloCloud, now part of VMware, we’re working towards refining the MEF70 SD-WAN Service Attributes and Services which now standardizes what SD-WAN means from a capability perspective and what attributes are present to define a service. We’re also working towards MEF70 product certification so customers can be assured that essential SD-WAN capabilities are present in products they’re evaluating.
