As SD-WAN’s adoption rate increases across small to large, global enterprises, continuous innovation and delivery of exceptional solutions and services to meet the needs of a growing user base becomes a requirement to stay ahead of the pack. VeloCloud now part of VMware understands this importance and just as it blazed the trail for SD-WAN over five years ago, it will continue to transform the market with its solution development.
TMC, a global, integrated media company, has recognized VeloCloud, now part of VMware’s contribution to the SD-WAN space and awarded its VMware NSX SD-WAN by VeloCloud a 2018 INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Innovation Award. The award honors products that have demonstrated innovation, unique features, and noteworthy developments toward improving Network Function Virtualization.
NSX SD-WAN and NFV are complementary to each other and form a powerful combination when used together. By leveraging NFV services with NSX SD-WAN, service deployments can be made in batches across the enterprise and simplify service insertion at the branches. Additionally, while NFV is typically used to deploy services in the cloud, it can be used with NSX SD-WAN to deliver those cloud services across the entire organization to each remote location.
It is increasingly important for vendors to offer existing services in VNF form, supporting the trend towards more open, interoperable platforms. NSX SD-WAN recommends either of the following as an open approach:
- NSX SD-WAN-focused NFV platform: A core NSX SD-WAN platform that additionally runs third party VNF service choices.
- An open NFV-service platform: A generic virtual CPE (vCPE) platform that allows loading an NSX SD-WAN VNF along with other third party VNFs.
“Congratulations to VeloCloud, now part of VMware for receiving a 2018 INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Innovation Award,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. “NSX SD-WAN has demonstrated true innovation and is leading the way for Network Function Virtualization. I look forward to continued excellence from VeloCloud, now part of VMware in 2018 and beyond.”
