How to Move to VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2 Faster

VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 5.2 is an evolution in our flagship private cloud platform. This release delivers a suite of powerful features to help you modernize your infrastructure, enhance the cloud experience for developers, and heighten security and resilience.

Sounds great, but how do you quickly move to VCF 5.2 and start getting the benefits? VCF Professional Services can help.

Modernize from VMware vSphere to VCF

To help you move from VMware vSphere to VCF, we start with modernization planning for full-stack VCF. We also consider and plan for future VCF releases to simplify subsequent transitions.

One of the exciting new features in VCF 5.2 is VCF Import.

VCF Import simplifies the process of onboarding existing vSphere and VMware vSAN instances into VCF enabling centralized management and seamless synchronization of your environment. We leverage this new capability to simplify and streamline your move to VCF. We access your vSphere environment for import readiness, review technology consumption-related use cases, and review potential operational improvements. From this information, we create a capability roadmap.

To perform the modernization, we complete a compatibility and readiness check, and execute any technical remediation that is needed. We upgrade the current vSphere environment and execute the VCF Import capability to ingest your existing vSphere environment into your current or new VCF instance.

Deploy a new VCF environment

Have you purchased VCF but haven’t deployed it yet? VCF Professional Services can deploy, integrate, and configure your environment. We start by assessing your cloud readiness. To stand up the infrastructure, we design and deploy your vSphere, VMware vSAN, and VMware NSX environment as well as VMware Cloud Foundation SDDC Manager.

To implement your cloud operations platform, we deploy and configure VMware Aria Automation, VMware Aria Operations, VMware Aria Operations for Logs, and VMware Aria Operations for Networks.

We help reduce your system’s attack surface by implementing security standards such as NIST or ISO 27001 for your compute, storage, and network components.

To help you operate and manage your new cloud environment, we define new roles and skills for your data center infrastructure team. We design and implement capabilities to increase visibility into your new environment such as metrics and monitoring, dashboards, and centralized logging. We define and implement operational processes such as capacity and performance management to help simplify and speed operations. We can also provide operational assistance for platform lifecycle management, prioritized backlog items, and developing automation and reporting.

Upgrade an existing VCF environment

If you have core VCF deployed, or a mixed environment with VCF and vSphere, our experts can help you upgrade and/or import to the latest version of VCF. We start by performing upgrade pre-checks and scheduling. We provide technical consultation and readiness preparation, and clean-up and remediation.

Then we upgrade the management and workload domains, and triage, report and resolve any upgrade issues. We validate the upgraded environment and provide knowledge transfer.
