Networking & Security Keynotes at VMworld 2019

About a month ago, we published a VMworld security guide, which shortlisted 100 to 300 level sessions that best illustrate real-world application of our products. This time, we’ll be focusing on two networking and security keynotes. The first keynote will highlight how VMware’s single-stack, complete networking and security platform can achieve a consistent operational network fabric for hybrid cloud environments, and the second keynote will focus on how users can leverage existing VMware infrastructure to implement a more effective, intrinsic security.

In addition, you will have a shot at winning Bose headphones simply by attending each event. Duplicate winners will be acknowledged so if you are looking for a present for yourself and a significant other, make sure to register and save on your yearly bonus! Winners will be announced at the end of each keynote, so make sure to stay until the end!

Single NSX Stack: Networking for Containers

There has never been a more exciting and challenging time in the networking space. As the cloud, application developers, IoT, and edge drive a new wave of innovation and digital transformation, networking must effectively connect all key components. In this Networking and Security Keynote, Tom Gillis, SVP/GM of the NSBU, will share the latest roadmap for the Virtual Cloud Network, VMware’s networking vision in today’s digital age. You will hear about our latest NSX Advanced Load Balancer from AVI Networks and hear first-hand accounts from organizations that are embracing the our strategy and vision. Customers will explain how utilizing the NSX portfolio has delivered a one-touch experience for automating network and provisioning policies for applications. This session is not only beneficial to newcomers looking for an introduction to NSX but also relevant for VMworld veterans looking to deepen their knowledge about NSX Cloud, SD-WAN by VeloCloud, and AppDefense.

Showcase Keynote: Intrinsic Security – How Your VMware Infrastructure Can Turn the Tide in Cybersecurity [SEC3412KU]

VMware's Intrinsic Security Controls

Security threats, breaches, and exploits are becoming more prevalent with no end in sight. In 2019 alone, there were 95+ major breaches that affected dozens of established firms and institutions such as Dunkin Donuts, Rubrik, BlackRock, and Sprint. The attack surface is multiplying at a blistering rate, and it has birthed a myriad of security vendors that have created more problems than they have solved. What’s worse is that the majority of these security innovations is heavily skewed towards products that are reactive in nature, but is this an effective approach? In this Intrinsic Security Keynote, Tom Corn and Shawn Bass will discuss why the ratio needs to flip in favor of innovation that is preventative in nature. Security will never be optimized when seen in the context of playing catch-up, and procedures such as allowlisting, micro-segmentation, and vulnerability management must be utilized more frequently to develop an approach that is one step ahead of attackers. In addition, you will have the opportunity to see how our flagship products like Secure StatevSphereNSXvSANVMware CloudWorkspace ONE are perfectly positioned to support your apps, data, and users, and when used in conjunction with AppDefense. This is a must-attend session for those interested in learning more about how VMware is making an impact in the security space.
