vCenter Operations Management Tech Tips: Tip #21 – Management Pack for Amazon Web Services (AWS) (Video)

Hi everyone!

In December 2013 we shipped vCenter Operations Management Suite 5.8.  This release focused on extending the capabilities of Cloud Operations Management with enhanced monitoring for Microsoft applications, support for Hyper-V and Amazon Web Services (AWS), as well as better storage visiblilty and analytics.  It’s all about Heterogeneous Cloud Operations Management.  As a result, in this release with vCenter Operations Manager we shipped multiple Management Packs.  Management Packs allow you to extend the capabilities of vCenter Operations Manager to other solutions, systems, and cloud platforms.  The focus of this post / video is the introduction of the Management Pack for AWS.  This allows you to gain visibility to your AWS – EC2 instances in vCenter Operations Manager.

View AWS resources

  • Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2 instances, and Elastic Block Store (EBS) volumes)
  • Elastic Map Reduce (EMR)
  • Elastic Load Balancing (ELB)
  • Auto Scaling Group (ASG)

To summarize the capabilities of the vC Ops Management Pack for AWS, I’ve put together this short video.  Enjoy!
