vRealize Operations

David Davis on vRealize Operations – Post #31 – Keeping vRealize Operations Simple with Hicham Mourad – Demo of 5 Critical Workflows

In case you missed my last post, I talked covered why you should download and how to deploy the latest and greatest vRealize Operations Manager – the new 6.3.

In this post, I wanted to share one of my favorite management VMworld 2016 sessions – MGT7718 – The KISS of vRealize Operations! In case you’re wondering, they say that the “KISS” in the session’s title stands for “Keep It Simple, Smart Person”.

In this session, with VMware’s Hicham (He-Sham) Mourad and Chima Njaka, they provide (for those who are new to vROps), a vROps overview and the vROps Architecture, then the new vROps 6.3 features (which I covered with Hicham, in this interview). From there, they jump into the main presentation where they give you a live hands-on demo, showing how SIMPLE AND EASY it is to accomplish the following workflows:

  1. Workload balancing — Across DRS Clusters
  2. Guided remediation through actionable alerts
  3. Integration with vRealize Log Insight
  4. Capacity management and projection
  5. Extending vROps with management packs

The cool thing about this “KISS” presentation is how they show you so much and how they keep it simple.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Hicham at VMworld 2016 about his VMworld presentation and the value of keeping vRealize Operations simple. Here’s the interview.

And if you’d like to watch the full VMworld 2016 presentation, it is below. Enjoy!
