What is vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager?
vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager automates install, configuration, upgrade, patch, configuration management, drift remediation and health from within a single pane of glass for the vRealize Suite components. vRSLCM frees IT Managers/Cloud admin resources to focus on business-critical initiatives, while improving time to value, reliability and consistency across their environments. It automates Day 0 to Day 2 operations of the entire vRealize Suite, enabling a simplified operational experience.
Your Content, anytime, anywhere.
By bringing DevOps principles to the management of vRealize Suite content, Content Management in vRSLCM is an extensible, customizable framework that provides a set of release management processes for software-defined content with the ability to capture, version control, test, release and rollback. This Content Management makes it possible to dispense with the time-consuming and error-prone manual processes currently required to manage content. Supported content includes entities from vRealize Automation, vRealize Orchestrator, vSphere 6.x, vRealize Operations. All of this content can be source controlled by Gitlab.
The best part is that vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager is FREE for all vRealize suite customers!
What’s new in vRSLCM 8.0?
The UI will continue to get better and better with every release. Here’s a quick look at the main dashboard page.
A new page for Lifecycle Management.
vRealize Automation 8.0 (vRA) installation. Starting with the latest release of vRealize Automation 8.0, vRSLCM will be needed to install vRealize Automation 8.0. It will simplify the installation process and will provide the option to install vRA in a HA deployment or not. You will see vRSLCM 8.0 install vRA 8.0 as it goes through the pipeline phases and tasks. One thing to note also, with the release of vRA 8.0 there will be an “Easy Installer” to help simplify the installation of a vRA 8.0 environment. The Easy Installer will first install vRSLCM 8.0, followed by Workspace ONE Access (formerly VMware Identity Manager), followed by vRA 8.0. Then vRSLCM from there will continue to manage the lifecyle of VMware Workspace ONE Access (formerly vIDM) and vRA.
Locker. There will be an area of vRSLCM that allows the creation of certificates, importing certificates, and generating certificate signing requests will fall under the new LOCKER tile from the main page of vRSLCM. In addition to certificate management, from this single place you will also manage licenses and passwords.
Directory Management. The UI for this will be improved.
Also, with this release you will be able to have a common VMware Workspace ONE Access (formerly VMware Identity Manager) implementation that will support all the vRealize Suite products. I hope you will download your copy and get started with vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager when it releases.
One more thing. Sam McGeown @VMware just did a short overview video on vRSLCM 8.0, and highlighted what’s new. Enjoy!
