CloudHealth by VMware today announces that it has secured a UK Cyber Essentials certification to protect customer data.
Cyber Essentials is a UK Government-backed scheme designed to protect an organization and its data against a wide range of common cyber attacks. CloudHealth by VMware made a strategic decision to secure the certification for protection of its customer data and to closely align with UK Government requirements.
The UK Cyber Essentials captures a strong set of requirements for consistent, effective measures to protect our customer data against a wide range of cyber threats, and it helps us communicate clearly with our customers and partners about the types of data protection measures we have in place. We felt it was important to add this certification to our growing global compliance and accreditation achievements.
Various laws around the world, like the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), emphasize the need for investments in security to protect data. Cyber Essentials gives VMware’s customers additional confidence about the company’s efforts to protect customer data and its compliance with these laws.
The CloudHealth platform provides default security policies based on the Center for Internet Security (CIS) Benchmarks and cloud provider best practices that can help customers achieve their own compliance and security objectives. CloudHealth security policies help customers validate their AWS and Azure cloud security posture. Additionally, CloudHealth by VMware as a business unit follows the CIS Benchmark guidance for our own configuration standards. With CloudHealth, customers receive automatic security alerts ranked by severity and can gain deeper insight into the state of the violation with a list of affected resources and recommended actions to remediate any issues.
We look forward to working with the UK Government and our global customer base to highlight the critical need to implement strong, cybersecurity hygiene practices and to strengthen trust in the digital transformation.
About Cyber Essentials
Cyber Essentials is a UK Government-backed scheme that helps protect organisations against a range of the most common cyber attacks. The vast majority of cyber attacks are very basic in nature, carried out by relatively unskilled individuals. Securing a Cyber Essentials certification helps give organisations peace of mind that they are protected against these most common types of attacks.
Having a Cyber Essentials certification is a requirement for vendors wishing to bid on UK Government contracts which involve handling sensitive and personal information or provide certain technical products and services.
