As a proof point to VMware’s SDDC operation management strategy, whereby customers have comprehensive visibility, health, performance and capacity management of compute, network and storage, six vRealize Operations Management Packs have been posted to VMware Solutions Exchange. Several of these are available through one of VMware’s premier management pack developer’s (Blue Medora) while the others have been developed and released by Vmware.
vRealize Operations Management Packs
These management packs include the following:
KVM: Offered by Blue Medora as an extension to vSphere where customers can now leverage the same user experience for both ESX and KVM servers. This management pack has been developed with the open Lib Virt API’s and does require a 3rd party intermediate node manager.
Management Pack for KVM Hypervisor
Dell Compute: Offered by Blue Medora and provides visibility of Dell server platforms as integrated with hosted vSphere environments. Root impact analysis and dashboard integration of Dell severs offers faster time to problem identification and remediation when seeing problem conditions at the vSphere host level.
Management Pack for Dell Compute
Postgres: Offered by Blue Medora this management pack provides visibility into health and usage for the PostgreSQL database server and PostgreSQL databases.
Management Pack for PostgreSQL Database
Management Pack for Network Devices: Offered by Vmware, this management pack extends the monitoring capability of vRealize Operation with coverage of the data center switches that interconnect vSphere hosts. Out of the box discovery and pre-defined leaf/spine topology widgets makes this a very user friendly extension.
NSX for vSphere, version 3: Offered by Vmware this management pack expands operation coverage for NSX virtual networking, including several of the global transport features within NSX for vSphere version 6.2, and newly added troubleshooting use cases for near real time troubleshooting of network connectivity and forwarding issues.
AWS Management Pack: Offered by Vmware, this management pack updates the CloudWatch API’s EMR) for coverage of MapReduced workloads. This newer API offers visibility at the cluster level, pagination, and improved response time as API has better performance characteristics.
Management Pack For Storage Devices: Offered by Vmware, this management pack offers substantial usability improvements over the previous releases including data simplification, better data summarization, and the inclusion of VSANs.
