The choice of training, whether face-to-face or through virtual training, is really up to how you prefer to learn. Having a live instructor in either case is very valuable to help in preparing for the exam.

Great questions! You can start your certification journey here at our VMware certification home page: https://www.vmware.com/education-services/certification.html
As you pick which certification exam to attempt, you will be presented with information on associated training. Click on the exam link, and you can download the Exam Guide. When you are ready to take the exam, click on the Schedule Exam link and you will be able to choose whether to take the exam at a test center or remotely. Either method counts towards the certification.
