This month, VMware Education Services released 5 courses and 2 exams to help you develop your skills and increase your knowledge. Don’t let the restriction of working from home stop you from learning how to take full advantage of the innovative VMware technologies that will help your organization work remotely and quickly impact business needs. The Education Services team has transitioned all scheduled in-person trainings to a virtual (live online) format including our vSphere, VMware Cloud, and NSX-T offerings. Summaries are provided below.
New Exams
Advanced Deploy VMware vSphere 6.7 – This exam tests your skills and abilities in implementation of a vSphere 6.x solution, including deployment, administration, optimization and troubleshooting. Online exam registration is recommended to ensure that your candidate details are received before the lab exam. You must make your lab exam appointment at least 48 hours before the scheduled lab exam date.
Professional VMware vSphere 7.x – This exam, which leads to the VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) 2020 certification. This certification validates that an individual can install, configure, manage, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting of a VMware vSphere® 7 infrastructure, which includes VMware ESXi™ 7 and VMware vCenter Server® 7. This is a 70-item exam, with a passing score of 300, using a scaled method. Candidates are given an exam time of 130 minutes, which includes adequate time to complete the exam for non-native English speakers.
This new exam introduces a different path to earn the VCP-DCV 2020 certification. When the mandatory VMware vSphere Foundations exam requirement was first introduced, its purpose was to consolidate all the common knowledge of—and skills required for—vSphere across every certification track. As VMware solutions evolve, and our certifications align to these changes, there is less vSphere commonality across the tracks. Starting now, if you pass this 2V0-21.20 exam, you will not be required to pass the broader vSphere Foundations exam. The 2V0-21.20 exam was designed with a focus on the core critical skills and competencies required for the job success of administrators and engineers specific to vSphere. It assumes the foundational skills covered in the Foundations exam and validates additional higher-level vSphere 7.0 skills.
Below is a graphical depiction of the two possible certification paths for a VCP-DCV 2020 candidate:
