VMware IT Academy: Four Ways this Program Serves Universities and Students

Today, studying virtualization is essential for expanding a job-seeker’s arsenal of skills or landing a dream role. Students need to make it a priority to understand what the cloud is, what powers it, and how businesses can take advantage of it.

That’s exactly where VMware IT Academy comes in. As our EMEA Program Manager says, “We’re all about public/private partnerships to enable learners to lead in the digital future.” Academic institutions enroll in the program to access a whole host of benefits, including the ones below.

1.) Community

With 600+ institutions—in 75+ countries—aligned to the program, our community is not a small one. It includes high schools, community colleges, universities, and non-profits all over the world. From expert instructors to passionate students, VMware IT Academy appeals to a wide variety of profiles and needs.

2.) VMware Software Licenses

From VMware’s flagship software, vSphere, to innovative storage virtualization software, vSAN, academies worldwide can access non-production licenses for VMware products that students need in order to work toward their career-bolstering certifications.

3.) Courseware Aligned to VMware Certifications

The benefits of virtualization are essential to establishing a digital foundation. So is learning how a hyper-converged infrastructure works. IT Academy courseware includes everything needed from the foundational level, to VCA and VCP certifications. A subset of curricula is also offered in Spanish and French.

4.) Conceptual Micro-Courses

Getting an associate or professional-level certification takes time, it’s true. There’s a definite learning curve. That’s exactly why IT Academy partnered with Network Development Group (NDG) to create three foundational micro-courses.  These learning modules introduce students to concepts in cloud, data centers, network virtualization, desktop virtualization, server virtualization, and more. And it’s not just informational! Students also receive a digital badge that certifies their knowledge and skills, officially branded by VMware.
