Corey Romero is a Sr. Community Manager who manages the vExpert & Advocacy programs at Broadcom. When he accepted the role in 2014, vExpert had 518 people in the program. Since then he has expanded the program to over 1,300. He also established 11 sub-programs, enhancing the community’s engagement and reach.

1. What would you say is the #1 reason someone should attend Explore?

Networking Opportunities: The networking aspect is my number 1 key benefit. The amount of people I have personally developed professional relationships with at past conferences has amplified opportunities for myself and my vExpert community. The comprehensive networking potential at Explore, including engaging with influential community members and accessing a friendly, supportive environment, stands out as the primary reason to attend.

2. What innovations are you most looking forward to learning about this year?

AI / ML & GPU Management: As the ecosystem excels in the AI/ML space, I’m very excited to see the advancements in GPU virtualization and management technologies, which are critical for maximizing AI/ML performance. Additionally, the evolving integration between VMware’s virtualization solutions and Broadcom’s semiconductor technologies is very exciting.

3. Can you give us a brief description of what your session/sessions will cover at Explore?

How to Become an Enterprise Influencer [CODEB2520LV]: An Enterprise Influencer is a thought leader who significantly impacts the strategic direction and decision-making within a large organization. They leverage their expertise, insights, and network to drive innovation, advocate for best practices, and influence key business outcomes. By hosting training sessions, webinars, and facilitating internal networking, they share knowledge and inspire others, helping shape the company’s culture, technology adoption, and overall growth trajectory.

4. What is something you think someone new to VMware Explore should know before going to the event?

Networking: How easy it is to connect and engage with others at the conference when you step out of your comfort zone. The VMware Community is the most supportive community I’ve engaged with.

5. What is your favorite memory from attending Explore?

Public Speaking: One of my favorite memories from attending VMware Explore is related to my first public speaking event. My first engagement involved introducing former VMware CEO, Pat Gelsinger, and I was notified just minutes prior. Despite having spent hours practicing my speech, it was still a rough experience. Since that first engagement, I’ve made it a point to push myself to do more public speaking and to encourage others to do the same.
