Chris McCain is a product management director in the Application Networking and Security franchise at VMware by Broadcom. Chris has over 20 years of experience in the world of information technology. In addition to being a double VCDX in data center virtualization and network virtualization, Chris has written several books on virtualization and infrastructure design. As part of his mission at VMware by Broadcom, Chris travels around the world talking to customers and partners about the company’s vision and strategy for next generation enterprise architecture. Chris is based in St Petersburg, FL.

5 Questions with Chris McCain
1. What would you say is the #1 reason someone should attend Explore?
To get the best information and education for learning how to build a secure private cloud with VMware by Broadcom products.
2. What innovations are you most looking forward to learning about this year?
The work we are doing with private AI, though still early for most customers, is really exciting!
3. Can you give us a brief description of what your session/sessions will cover at Explore?
Three of my four sessions have a strong security focus. The fourth session focuses on organizational change required to better support the deployment and management of a secure private cloud.
However, I have a long history working with VMware products. At the risk of dating myself, I go back to ESX 2.0. I want to leverage that experience to help customers understand the VMware vision and strategy that can help them succeed as both an IT professional and a member of a larger IT organization.

4. What is something you think someone new to VMware Explore should know before going to the event?
Explore is a great opportunity to talk to other people. The ability to interact directly with Broadcom employees/experts plus the ability to talk to other customers is always extremely valuable.
5. What is your favorite memory from attending Explore?
For the past two years, the “Security Mindset” event has been my favorite. I am thankful for the Explore attendees for making it a success and I look forward to this third year of entertaining and educating those who come to the session.
