Join us at VMware Explore
Barcelona, Spain | Fira Gran Via
6 – 9 November 2023
At VMware Explore, we are furthering VMware’s journey to net zero by partnering with forward-thinking organizations that share our commitment to environmental sustainability. Together, we organized initiatives throughout your event experience aimed at mitigating carbon emissions, diverting waste from landfills, and promoting sustainable practices.
Mitigating the Carbon Footprint
VMware is mitigating the carbon emissions* associated with VMware Explore 2023 attendee participation by investing in nature-based solutions that sequester carbon. More specifically, VMware supports the Three Rivers Grasslands Restoration project, which removes carbon from the atmosphere by restoring degraded grasslands. We aspire to host a carbon neutral event and our 2023 Explore series demonstrates progress towards this goal.
Fill It. Scan It. Contribute.
Contribute to the planting of more trees by refilling your VMware Explore water bottle during the event. Simply scan the QR code found either on your water bottle or at a VMware Explore water station each time you fill up. Each scan contributes to One Tree Planted funding to plant trees.
Sustainable Practices
Responsible Materials
Onsite event materials are reduced, reused and recycled where possible…
- Material recycle stations are located onsite.
- Promotional items are responsibly sourced through preferred vendors that are progressive and active in pursuing carbon neutral output and support a number of philanthropic foundations, including One Percent for the Planet.
- All single-use rigid graphics are printed on high-quality recyclable substrates. Aisle signs are printed on 100 percent recyclable, high-quality paper with only non-VOC inks.
- Energy-efficient (Energy Star) electronic equipment is used when available, and a power-down policy requires all AV equipment to be turned off overnight when possible.
Green Venue
Our selected venue, Fira Gran Via, features a sustainability policy aligned with their commitment to environmental, economic and social sustainability, and is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
- Fira de Barcelona venues consume 100% green energy and only consume electricity from renewable sources such as solar, wind, hydraulic, tidal and geothermal, together with biomass and biogas.
- Fira Gran Via is a pioneer in Spain in furnishing an entire venue with IoT technology to optimize energy consumption associated with HVAC and has also installed low consumption lighting systems.
- Fira Gran Via has one of the biggest rooftop photovoltaic plants in the world with 25,947 panels that generate 5.86GWh of electricity per year, avoiding the emission of more than 2,200 tonnes of CO2.
- Gastrofira, the in-house food & beverage department, is committed to collaborating with local suppliers and producers for many of the items purchased for food production and regularly donates healthy food surpluses.
