Enterprises Are Accelerating Their Generative AI Initiatives With Multi-Cloud. Here’s How

When it comes to Artificial Intelligence (AI), public opinion is being influenced by what’s being shown in movies and TV shows. But even though the reality of Generative AI is far from the apocalyptic scenarios depicted on the big screen, its potential to have a profound and positive impact on our world is real and current.

Generative AI, which combines natural language interaction with the ability to create entirely new content, made its mainstream debut last year with tools such as ChatGPT, Jasper, and Midjourney. These tools continue to generate widespread interest among consumers, but it’s in the enterprise world where much of the immediate value of Generative AI lies. It’s already revolutionizing business innovation and opening up exciting new possibilities.

But such rapid and profound innovation inevitably raises previously unforeseen issues for society to address before Generative AI can be widely adopted:  critical concerns over privacy, intellectual property, and other legal issues need – and are starting to receive – urgent attention, although the pace of innovation in AI continues to outpace our ability to legislate and regulate it.

Embracing the future with Generative AI

At VMware Explore Las Vegas in August, we reaffirmed our dedication to helping organizations transform their operations through Generative AI. To address the need for privacy and trusted data, we introduced several new Private AI offerings:

  • The VMware AI-Ready Program: Connecting Independent Software Vendors with the tools and resources needed to validate and certify their machine learning and Large Language Model products on VMware’s Private AI Reference Architecture.

Unlocking the potential of Generative AI with multi-cloud

In many ways, Generative AI is just another IT workload, albeit with unique requirements that rely on the right infrastructure, high-speed networking, and substantial processing power. It also needs seamless access to data across multiple different cloud environments. This complexity calls for a flexible, multi-cloud architecture that gives organizations the freedom to choose where to build, run, and consume their AI Large Language Models (LLMs), whether in on-premises environments, private clouds, at the edge, and/or across multiple public clouds, such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.

VMware sits at the heart of this, offering cross-cloud solutions that enhance productivity, expedite deployment, and safeguard valuable enterprise data.
