Don’t Break The Bank Episode 11: Tales from the frontline: how AXA handled the pandemic, as told by its transformation expert

By Matthew O’Neill, Industry Managing Director, Advanced Technology Group, VMware Office of the CTO

For the last 10 episodes, we’ve had the pleasure of talking with from some of VMware’s leading minds. We’ve been covering areas we thought would be interesting for our listeners in the financial services industry, and for us. We have covered topics from new ways of working to how cyber security is changing, and what it all means for banks and other Financial Services firms. I hope you agree that we’ve fulfilled the brief that Brian and I had when we wanted “ask the questions, we did not even know where questions, when we worked on the other side”.

That said, we all like to hear from people in our own shoes. Those that have faced the challenges we are wrestling with and have come out on top. That’s why we’re delighted to welcome Violeta Ciurel, from global insurance leader AXA, to be our guest for our eleventh episode, and the first customer to have joined us on the podcast. We first met Violeta at a customer roundtable/think tank event and were so impressed with her insight and storytelling that we thought we had to share it further. You’ll hear how the challenges we all faced were wrestled with-in, even the largest of organisations.

Violeta has held a number of roles at AXA over her ten years with the business. Now, she runs large transformation programmes within the company, a critical role at a time of great change. Violeta shared with us how AXA have handled the dramatic events of this year, and how 2020 has influenced its transformation of lines of business and regions within the organisation.

Talking with Violeta for a second time, it was still fascinating, and we’re thrilled to be able to share this with you. Please take a listen.

As always, we’d love to hear your feedback. What are the topics you want to hear about? Do you want to learn more from one of our past guests, or have us focus on something completely new? Would you like to join us to talk about a topic close to you and your business? We’ve got some exciting speakers lined up, but we’re always keen to hear from our listeners, so please do leave a comment or send us a message. In the meantime, take care, and if there’s anything we can do to help, get in touch.
