Hands on Labs aren’t new, but the way we use them has changed. In the latest Carpool Tech Talk, Rory gets the inside scoop from Andrew Hald, Principal Architect and Senior Manager of Hands-on Labs, on how Hands-on Labs are adding value to our products and our users.
‘The previous team that ran the labs, their focus was to be VMware’s customer zero.’ Andrews tells Rory, ‘They wanted to break things, and run VMware software to the bleeding edge.’
Hands-on Labs used to be engineering focused, inviting techies and engineers to test and trial our products – to really push them to their absolute limits and find bugs with the software. The labs were essentially about breaking the software to rebuild it and make it stronger.
But times have changed and so has the focus of the Labs. No longer exclusive to events like VMworld, the Hands-on Labs deliver the opportunity for anyone – from novice to expert – to experience VMware software first hand. Now available online globally, 24/7 365 days a year, the labs are a fantastic tool to test drive products and ‘try before you buy’.
Not only are they a great introduction to the VMware world for beginners, the labs are exciting and challenging, pushing VMware experts and veterans to gain new skills and brush up on their existing knowledge.
If you haven’t explored Hands-on Labs yet, there is a whole library of labs to fit your schedule and your skill level. So, dive in and get your hands dirty!
