What makes VMware a great place to work?

Every business wants to be known as a great place to work. For years, companies have invested in their employees, listening to their needs and wants to develop inclusive, exciting, industry-leading workplaces.

But, in 2020, when office perks and parties could no longer happen, things had to change. Instead, top-quality growth opportunities and positive remote cultures took centre stage.

Businesses around the world had to adapt, and sadly, for some, workplace culture got put on the back burner. Now, here’s where we’re proud to say throughout all the ups and downs of the last few years, one thing remained the same: our dedication to creating an exceptional culture.

We’re proud to announce…

We never settle; when it comes to supporting our colleagues, enough is never enough. So, we work day in, day out to grow and improve; to make VMware a truly extraordinary place where our team feel welcome and can thrive.

And with that, we’re thrilled to say our own employee reviews have placed us among the winners of the annual Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards, as the UK’s 8th Best Place to Work in 2022.

What our employees had to say…

Colleague opportunities and workplace culture are two of our top priorities, so we were delighted to see these appear continuously throughout the year’s reviews. But don’t just take it from us, we’ll let our team tell you themselves.

One review that stood out to us was from a current Professional Services Solutions Architect in Staines, UK, who said:

“VMware is one of those companies that really give you a sense of job satisfaction as they don’t just talk the talk, but also walk the walk, which is evident in their great EPIC2 culture. Good salaries, benefits, career and personal development programmes are amongst one of the best on offer in the industry. I have thoroughly enjoyed every day since I joined.”

And here are a few other authentic Glassdoor reviews, which caught our eye, and contributed to our placement:

“Great culture and opportunities. Nowhere better.” – Senior Manager in London, UK.

“Great chance to work with latest technologies.” – SQL Server Database Administrator in London, UK.

“Great people, high energy, everyone wants to get the job done. A lot of empowerment. Compensation is good. Internal movement is encouraged. Budget for personal development as well as wellbeing. Great products, strong partnerships with hardware vendors. Ability and accessibility to work from home.” – Senior Programme Manager in London, UK.

“Flexibility and great work and life balance. Great culture, underpinned by VMware’s EPIC2 values and talented people. Lots of progression opportunities too.” – Marketing Manager in London, UK.

An award based on real reviews

Unlike other awards, there is no self-nomination or application process. Instead, the scoring is entirely based on feedback our employees have voluntarily and anonymously shared on Glassdoor.

Each company is rated across three criteria: quantity of reviews, quality of reviews and consistency of reviews. Plus, Glassdoor places integrity at the core of these awards, ensuring no company official influences reviews – to ensure total fairness in the rankings.

To choose the award’s winners, Glassdoor evaluates all company reviews shared across the last 12 months, and we’re elated to have been recognised in the top 10.

Here’s to the future

A huge thank you to all our employees who took the time to share insight into what it’s like to work with us. We appreciate every piece of feedback, and we’re excited for the opportunity to make VMware the best place to work around the world – together.
