The Orange Group is a leading telecommunications provider in Poland. Since 2013, it also combines the expertise in building and supporting telecommunications networks with delivering state-of-the-art IaaS solutions for business clients. Polish companies are innovation-hungry, but they still look for proven and secure solutions and this is way they still want data to reside in their own country. In effect, Orange need to develop their services based on a technology which enables to combine and manage systems located both in various clouds and in local data centers.
In 2020, due to developing a cloud portfolio for B2B clients, Orange was the first company in Poland and one of the first ones in Europe to implement the newest version of VMware Cloud Director. By using this technology, Orange offers its customers a range of IT services which can be launched without configuration changes on corporate servers. At the same time all the services are provided from company’s three data centers in Poland which meet highest security standards. In addition, the new infrastructure can be managed using remote platforms.
“We wanted to offer our customers free access to a management platform, which will allow them to manage their IT infrastructure in very efficient way,” said Jakub Bryła, Cloud Solutions and Marketing Manager at Orange Polska. “Thanks to VMware, our customers can get more familiar with cloud technology.”
VMware Cloud Director also offers Orange a high level of availability. Thanks to the vMotion functionality, “live” migration of virtual machines between hosts translates into service continuity. However, the key differentiator of the implemented technology is its flexibility. VMware Cloud Director is a tool which enables Orange to immediately increase the resources of launched applications. Thanks to Infrastructure as Code tools, it is also possible to implement applications with the use of programming code describing cloud infrastructure.
Implementing VMware Cloud Director in short-term has translated into the ease of migration from a corporate data center to clouds, and the speed of providing customers with new services and solutions. Building a new IT environment which responds to dynamically changing market conditions and companies’ application needs takes less than 5 minutes.
“Thanks to using VMware Cloud Director, our customers can even, on demand, build a cloud environment necessary to launch an online store or set up their employees to work remotely,” concludes Jakub Bryła. “With VMware we can gives our customers confidence even in uncertain times, when you need to respond to the customer’s voice very quickly.”
