Looking to learn about automation, indulge in pizza and snacks, and spend time getting to know other automation experts? This is your time to join the VMware {Code} Hackathon event. The event runs July – August, culminating on-site at VMware Explore in Las Vegas on Monday, August 25.
Why:
- Work on that idea you have had but never carved out time and motivation
- Helps you create or join a team to help build your idea or move an idea forward
- Gives you a chance to share your idea with others
- Review other ideas and join people working on something interesting.
- Win a prize with your team and get recognition for your contributions
- Receive a VMware{code} Hackathon T-shirt and be a part of the event.
What:
- From July – August you can Create or Join a team to work on an idea
- Automation project for the datacenter, tools, enhancements, scripts, GUI’s
- Teams can be anywhere from 1-10 people
- Create code and present and demo what you have built Monday evening August 25th, 2025
- Judging and Awards will happen between 10:00pm-11:30pm

We will have Raspberry Pi 5’s and will utililize Powershell PowerCLI to make a monitoring system and display data on a small I2C bus OLED display.

Idea: vAuditRBAC: Policy-Driven RBAC Compliance for vCenter
Ensure your vCenter environment adheres to defined RBAC policies with vAuditRBAC, an automated compliance tool. It compares live roles and permissions in vCenter against a centrally defined policy stored in GitHub or Confluence and reports any mismatches in privileges, assignments, or propagation levels.
