Join the VMware Tanzu team at AWS re:Invent 2019 for a live stream of Werner Vogels’ keynote and breakout sessions dedicated to helping builders, developers, architects and engineers learn more about Kubernetes and modern apps.
Heading to AWS re:Invent 2019? The VMware Tanzu team is hosting two free activities helping builders, developers, architects and engineers accelerate their ability to build, run and manage modern apps.
The first activity is a workshop that will advance your understanding of the fundamentals of containers and Kubernetes. The second activity is a livestreaming of Werner Vogels’ keynote presentation.
Both events will be held at the Palazzo Grand Lux Café.
VMware Tanzu
Meaning branch in Swahili, Tanzu is the new name for VMware’s Modern Application product and services portfolio. VMware Tanzu helps organizations build, run and manage Kubernetes across a continuum of scenarios ranging from “we are just getting started” to “we are running Kubernetes at scale”.
Your hosts for both activities are Kubernetes experts, many of whom joined VMware as part of VMware’s acquisition of Heptio. Heptio was founded by Joe Beda and Craig McLuckie, two of the three people who co-created Kubernetes at Google. The acquisition of Heptio brought some of the most talented Kubernetes practitioners in the industry.
Activity Descriptions and Logistics
Activity #1: The Fundamentals of Kubernetes
Summary: This event is ideal for builders, developers, architects and engineers who are eager to build modern applications and want to better understand the role Kubernetes plays in building modern apps.
Through a series of presentations and lab exercises, the fundamental concepts of Kubernetes will be explored and put into practice. Agenda for the 3-hour workshop includes:
- Introduction to Containers
- Kubernetes Fundamentals
- Kubernetes Architecture and Troubleshooting

Activity #2: Livestream of Werner Vogels’ Keynote
Summary: Join us for breakfast, lively roundtable discussions with peers and Kubernetes experts from VMware, and a Livestream of Werner Vogels’ Keynote.
