VMware Cloud’s digital infrastructure service from the leader in private cloud and the world’s leading public cloud provider took away the top honor in the Hybrid Cloud category at CRN’s 2018 Products of the Year Awards last month.
VMware Cloud on AWS was picked as the overall winner of the category for its recent updates including entry-level pricing, custom CPU licensing capabilities and application-centric security with NSX. CRN also highlighted the service’s benefits in being able to leverage familiar vSphere tools on the cloud and being able to take the VMware infrastructure and tie in advanced AWS services.
Part of The Channel Company, CRN’s Product of the Year awards recognize the best new IT products and major updates every year. CRN editors choose finalists from leading companies across 22 categories. They then provide a survey to solution providers to determine winners based on technology, revenue and profit opportunities, and customer demand.
The recognition of the award highlights that despite being relatively new to the market, having launched in 2017, VMware Cloud on AWS has garnered real-world satisfaction among customers and partners leveraging the product’s accessibility, flexibility and control.
Other VMware products that took home honors at the event included:
- VMware vSAN 6.7 – overall winner in the Software-Defined Storage category
- VMware NSX updates – finalist in the Software-Defined Networking category
