New Feature Announcement of Oracle Cloud VMware Solution at VMware Explore Las Vegas 2023

Oracle and VMware extended strategic partnership with the addition of the Oracle Cloud VMware Solution offering in the VMware Cloud Universal program.

With VMware Cloud Universal, customers will be able to purchase Oracle Cloud VMware Solution as part of VMware Cloud Universal. This expanded partnership will translate into amplified financial flexibility and options for enterprise customers to accelerate their cloud migrations and modernize their enterprise applications in Oracle Cloud.

But what exactly is VMware Cloud Universal?

VMware Cloud Universal is a flexible purchasing and consumption program designed to facilitate businesses in their cloud-powered digital transformation while providing a path to multi-cloud adoption. Customers can choose purchase and consumption plans tailored to their digital transformational initiatives. With the inclusion of Oracle Cloud VMware Solution in VMware Cloud Universal program, our customers will be able to purchase Oracle Cloud VMware Solution through VMware Cloud Universal, allowing them to utilize VMware Cloud Universal credits at their own pace.

This addition will provide these benefits:

  • Expanding platform Options: Customers will have an additional platform choice for their VMware workloads and can seamlessly migrate applications to the cloud and modernize with Oracle Cloud native services.
  • Accelerated Cloud Adoption: As part of the VMware Cloud Universal offering, customers will have access to VMware’s premier customer success program, designed to help businesses predictably achieve digital transformation objectives.
  • Protection of investment: Customers will gain from one-time savings on new VMCU investments through the VMware Cloud Acceleration Benefit program, which is offered through VMware Cloud Universal.
  • Transparent pricing: Business leaders will have visibility into their VMware Cloud Universal products and services through a centralized Cloud Console, enabling them to align future needs with existing inventory.

VMware Tanzu Application Service 5.0  will support Oracle Cloud VMware Solution.

VMware Tanzu Application Service is a mission-critical platform that enables enterprises to deliver their applications faster with a more secure path to production. Additionally, the platform can allow for improved engineering efficiency by offering a highly automated, intrinsically secure, and resilient application runtime.

With the introduction of Tanzu Application Service 5.0, customers will expand their cloud options to include Oracle Cloud VMware Solution. Customers will be able to leverage VMware Tanzu products alongside Oracle’s Cloud offerings. Get a sneak peek into Tanzu Application Service 5.0 in the latest blog. In addition, here are the planned feature enhancements:

  • Further improvements for the developer experience: Developers and platform engineers will benefit from MySQL database integration for persisting data in the software catalog and other plugins used in the TAS Developer Portal. In addition, tracing across all Tanzu Application Service components will enhance the speed of debugging and troubleshooting. Customers will be able to swiftly track down errors and identify network problems using log aggregation solutions.
  • Improved cost efficiencies for platform engineering: To enhance the platform tooling, we will add additional BOSH commands aimed at aiding during platform outages. The “BOSH create-recovery-plan” and “BOSH recover” commands are two crucial additions in this regard.
  • Eliminate Toil and Expand Access: With the 5.0 release, BOSH DNS certificates will undergo automatic rotation during stem cell upgrades, facilitated by an optional feature. Operation Managers will have visibility into the rotation process, enabling them to monitor each stage closely.

Oracle Cloud Achieved Top Secret Cloud Authorization with the U.S. Intelligence Community

On August 15th, Oracle announced the U.S. Intelligence Community has authorized Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to host Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) missions. Compliant with the highest level of U.S. Government classification standards, Oracle National Security Regions (ONSRs) are designed to meet the needs of the US Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC). The TS/SCI authorization advances the Intelligence Community and DoD towards their multi-cloud strategy with Oracle GovCloud. This achievement stands as a testament to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Cloud VMware Solution’s dedication to providing a secure and reliable cloud environment for our valued government customers, especially those operating in the most sensitive and critical domains. As the first citizen of Oracle Cloud, Oracle Cloud VMware Solution is committed to supporting the mission of the U.S. Intelligence Community by delivering a cloud solution that aligns with their stringent requirements.
