As part of the 2024 IDC Business Value Snapshot, IDC interviewed current VMware Cloud on AWS customers who were using traditional on-premises infrastructure or some other traditional public cloud infrastructure before moving to VMware Cloud on AWS. IDC asked these customers about their experiences of using VMware Cloud on AWS. And based on these interviews, here are some of the great data points IDC documented:

- $3.42 million higher revenue per 100 VMs per year
- 95% reduced unplanned downtime
- 63% faster to deploy new compute
- ~50% lower cost of infrastructure and operations combined
- 34% higher development team productivity
- 32% higher IT infrastructure team efficiencies
- As compared to traditional public cloud option, VMware Cloud on AWS delivers:
- $198,700 per 100 VMs more value from faster migration
- 52% less staff time required to migrate workloads
- $143,400 per 100 VMs, business and productivity gains with faster migration
