VMware Cloud on AWS

VMware Cloud on AWS delivers capabilities to run and protect applications with more flexibility

VMware Cloud on AWS is a seamlessly integrated hybrid cloud service that serves the needs of our customers across cloud migration, data center extension, disaster recovery and next-generation applications. Since we launched in August 2017, this service is available globally across 10 AWS Regions and multiple Availability Zones.

We are excited to announce the next release of VMware Cloud on AWS that delivers more flexibility for our customers to run and protect enterprise workloads with more flexibility. Let us take a closer look at these capabilities:

Custom CPU Core Counts: This capability enables customers to select a lower number of physical cores per host during the time of provisioning a second cluster. It gives customers the flexibility in configuring their SDDC clusters and enables them to optimize their licensing costs for enterprise applications that are licensed on a per core basis. Disaster recovery enhancements: VMware Site Recovery is delivered as an add-on service to VMware Cloud on AWS. VMware Site Recovery™ brings trusted replication, orchestration and automation technologies to VMware Cloud on AWS to protect applications in the event of site failures. The service is built on an industry-leading recovery plan automation solution, VMware Site Recovery Manager™, and native hypervisor-based replication, VMware vSphere® Replication™. The service provides an end-to-end disaster recovery solution enabling customers to apply cloud economics with an elastic environment. It also accelerates time to protection and minimizes disaster impact with familiar VMware tools and streamlined DR.

We are introducing two new capabilities to enhance flexibility of DR protection and accelerate deployment of the service:

    • Support for fan-in and multi-site topologies: Reduce DR costs and operational complexity with support for fan-in and other multi-site topologies to pair a single VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC with multiple on-premises sites and/or other VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC(s) for disaster recovery purposes. • VMware Site Recovery – Connectivity checker: Accelerate deployment of VMware Site Recovery using single-click tests from the Troubleshooting tab of the SDDC to check connectivity from VMware Cloud on AWS to the on-premises sites. Learn more here.
