Cloud Migration VMware Cloud on AWS

Horizon 7 joins the VMware Cloud on AWS Family

As workload adoption on VMware Cloud powered by AWS picks up momentum, Horizon 7 announces that its industry-leading solution for virtual desktops and apps (VDI) now supports VMware Cloud on AWS. It’s natural that the migration of applications would include VDI as well, and with Horizon 7 on VMware Cloud on AWS, customers can now migrate desktops to the cloud while maintaining a consistent management paradigm.

Horizon 7 is a complete, cloud-managed desktop environment which can be set up in a few hours. It can easily be expanded and scaled up on-demand to accommodate growth. The desktop administrator will have access to a fully-managed, scalable SDDC infrastructure with all Horizon 7’s industry-leading capabilities.

Cloud Pod Architecture (CPA), a key feature of Horizon 7, allows multiple Horizon PODs to be interconnected, where each POD is able to support thousands of desktops. PODs can be either located within one datacenter, or across multiple datacenters. It was also recently announced that PODs can be located in the AWS cloud.

CPA gives you the flexibility to design a VDI layout that meets your organization’s needs. Want to add desktop capacity into the cloud? No problem. All you need to do is install Horizon 7 on a VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC and add users to the POD. You will have access to new desktops in a fraction of the time, with all of the same features as the on-premise version of Horizon 7.

Benefits of Horizon 7 on VMware Cloud on AWS

The complete migration experience
Workloads are typically connected to a Virtual Desktop for user interaction with the application. Migrating the workload without the Virtual Desktop may be a non-optimal solution because the VDI to application latency may be too long, and there may be high network traffic between on-premise infrastructures and the cloud. Now, you can migrate the desktop with your workloads to deliver the optimal customer experience.

Quickly respond to business needs
Enterprises evolve every day. New teams are added as companies are acquired, new projects are added with remote teams or contractors, and teams grow beyond capacity. With VMware Cloud on AWS, you can add new users in less than a day and quickly integrate these new teams at an accommodating capacity.

Access to the broad range of AWS Services.
Once deployed on VMware Cloud on AWS, desktops are able to use the many AWS services that can be accessed through a simple network connection. Horizon 7 on AWS can utilize the facilities of AWS Elastic Network Interface (ENI) and integrate services such as Amazon’s RDS to enhance the desktop experience.

If you are a Horizon 7 user, VMware Cloud on AWS gives you alternatives for your enterprise desktops and applications to maximize your output and increase workflow efficiency.
