Since last summer, we’ve had an incredible amount of interest in VMware Cloud on AWS when we announced it at VMworld. Bringing together industry-leading VMware private cloud technology with AWS, the world’s leading provider of public cloud, provides enterprises a unique hybrid cloud solution. VMware Cloud on AWS enables enterprise IT and operations teams to continue to add value to their business in the AWS cloud, while maximizing their VMware investments, without the need to buy new hardware.
As enterprises seek their path to hybrid cloud, 86% use cloud professional services from either their cloud vendor or a third party system integrator. At VMware, we’ve been working with system integrators as they develop the skills and expertise needed to assist enterprises on their journey to hybrid cloud. Focusing on key use cases such as cloud migration, data center expansion and disaster recovery, VMware has worked closely with leading system integrators, such as Accenture, Atos, Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, DXC Technology, HCL, Wipro and most recently Fujitsu, that can offer business consulting, managed services, operations consulting and technical consulting services for hybrid cloud.
Many enterprises are changing their sourcing strategy, dramatically increasing their use of managed hybrid IT services. According to IDC, the rate of outsourcing for managed hybrid IT services will grow from 16% of enterprises in 2017 to 37% of enterprises by 2019. That’s doubling the level of interest over 2 years! To support enterprises as they seek partners to help them with managed services, VMware has worked with leading managed service providers, such as Armor Defence, CenturyLink, Ensono, Expedient, Faction, Peak10, Rackspace and UOL to offer managed services with VMware Cloud on AWS.
Enterprises are increasingly looking for partners who can help them with hybrid cloud. In fact, one study said 75% of hybrid adopters are looking for partners to help them integrate their IT assets. Partners can bring industry or technical expertise to enterprises that are quickly executing on their digital transformation plans. VMware has been working with key partners that have deep expertise in VMware technology and AWS services, to help enterprises on this journey. Partners such as Ahead, Computer Design & Integration, Groupware Technology, Insight, Presidio, SHI, Sirius, Trace3 and as we expand our service into EMEA, Softcat and Computacenter, have the knowledge to assist enterprises with hybrid cloud solutions based on VMware Cloud on AWS.
The benefit of consistent infrastructure and operations offered by VMware Cloud on AWS also extends to solutions from VMware technology partners. Customers can now deploy the same proven solutions that have been previously certified for vSphere in both their private cloud and VMware Cloud on AWS. The number of ISV partners that have self-validated their solution for VMware Cloud on AWS continues to grow. Recently Actifio, BitDefender, Checkpoint, Delphix, Embotics, GeoCloud, Harmonic, Hitachi, Loadbalancer, Nokia Siemens, Rackware, PrimaryIO, Gridable.io, and ScienceLogic announced support. In addition, Dell EMC has released a new data protection bundle specifically designed for VMware Cloud on AWS.
