Growing Partner Ecosystem for VMware Cloud on AWS

As our customers are showing increasing interest for VMware Cloud on AWS, our partners are also showing significant interest. Organizations around the world are implementing hybrid cloud, as reported in a survey by IDC that says 80% of organizations are committed to hybrid cloud by 2018. There’s no doubt that hybrid cloud is one of the big focus areas for organizations. To help address this growing opportunity, VMware has recently doubled the number of partners we are working with to support VMware Cloud on AWS.

Recent business trends in the industry, including the growing interest in IoT, the resurgence of AI, concerns about security/compliance along with technology trends like DevOps, cloud native applications and serverless computing present both challenges as well as opportunities to organizations. System integrators can help organizations develop business and technical strategies for transforming their business. Accenture, Capgemini and Deloitte have been working with VMware to develop hybrid cloud offerings for VMware Cloud on AWS since early this year. Recently, Atos, Cognizant, HCL and Wipro have started working with VMware to develop hybrid cloud services as well.

In addition to the above, organizations may need managed services wrapped around cloud technologies such as application migration and management, elevated levels of support, security and compliance, unified operations, and cloud strategy design and implementation. In these situations, and others, managed service providers (MSP) help organizations address their SaaS needs. VMware has been working with leading MSPs such as Ensono, Faction, and Rackspace, to deliver VMware Cloud on AWS as a managed service offering. VMware is working with several more SMPs who are well positioned to deliver these services.

With the rapid pace of technology innovation and the increasing pace of business, it’s difficult for organizations to keep up and to know which technologies are right for them. Solution providers help organizations know which technologies are right for their business. For hybrid cloud, VMware has been working with leading solution providers including AHEAD, Groupware Technology, Presidio, and Trace3. VMware has recently expanded its solution provider partner ecosystem for hybrid cloud, adding CDI, Insight, SHI and Sirius.

When VMware announced VMware Cloud on AWS in August, we also announced more than 24 solutions available from ISV partners covering a broad range of capabilities including cloud migration, DevOps, cost optimization, security/compliance and data protection. Since then, VMware continues to work with our ISV partners to extend their certified vSphere applications into the world’s largest hybrid cloud environment. Recent ISVs that have tested their solutions with VMware Cloud on AWS include Veeam, Druva, NetApp, Cloudhealth, Runecast, https://www.rightscale.com/, and Avi Networks.

This growing partner ecosystem is just one indication of the demand and interest for VMware Cloud on AWS. You can expect the VMware Cloud on AWS partner ecosystem to continue to grow in the coming months.
