Cloud Scalability @ the Speed of a Click with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 3.0

As Enterprises create more data and transactions, demands are increasing on their private and public cloud instances. By 2020 the digital universe will create around 40 zettabytes of data. In the last 3 years alone data center traffic has tripled. This explosion in compute, network and storage density is driven by IoT, social media, on-demand video and global digital transformation. Cloud admins struggle daily to scale their data centers to accommodate this explosion in compute, network and storage needs. Providing right-sized and cost effective infrastructure on demand is akin to balancing tightrope between science and art. Managing this growth requires systems and strategies that cost-effectively and efficiently support scale.

Enter VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 3.0 an integrated hybrid cloud at scale.

VMware Cloud Foundation(VCF) provides integrated cloud infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, and security) and cloud management services to run enterprise applications in both private and public environments. VMware Cloud Foundation makes it easy to deploy, run and scale a hybrid cloud.

Multiple Clusters in a Workload Domain:
VCF 3.0, the latest version, makes it easier to scale the cloud through its support for multiple clusters in a Workload Domain(WLD). A Workload domain(WLD) is a policy based resource container with specific availability and performance attributes that combines industry leading compute (vSphere), storage (vSAN) and networking (NSX) into a single consumable entity. This is the resource container where businesses deploy their Line of Business applications.

When a Cloud Admin needs to add capacity to his VCF 3.0 Cloud,  he can add additional clusters to a WLD and/or hosts to existing clusters in a WLD. A few clicks , and voila, he has scaled his compute, storage, networking and security of his cloud in a single operation. No more going to multiple consoles and control planes to scale compute, storage, network and security seperately. No more multiple maintenance/downtime windows. No more struggle!

That is Cloud Scalability@ the speed of a click
