VMware Hands-on Labs are a great way to learn about VMware products and solutions. VMware Explore 2025 will debut many new labs specifically focused on our latest release, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.0. To plan your schedule, check out the Explore Content Catalog, which includes detailed descriptions of the Expert-led Workshops and Self-paced Labs that will be available at the event.
Three of these VCF 9.0 Hands-on Labs focus specifically on performance topics:
Introduction to vSphere Performance in VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 (HOL-2637-07-VCF-L)
This lab will introduce you to performance and scalability improvements included in vSphere 9.0, the core virtualization engine behind VMware Cloud Foundation and VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF). We’ll show you production-ready Memory Tiering with NVMe, Virtual Hardware version 22, which increases monster VM limits to 960 vCPUs and 24TB memory, and Enhanced Data Path, which improves network performance out of the box. We’ll also teach you best practices to help achieve optimal performance in your virtualized environments.
Workload Performance with VMmark 4 on VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 (HOL-2637-08-VCF-L)
This lab will introduce you to VMmark 4, a free tool used by customers and partners to measure the performance and scalability of vSphere and VCF 9.0. It accurately and reliably benchmarks the performance of virtualized data centers, allows comparison of the performance of different virtualization platforms, and can be used to measure the performance impact of hardware, software, or configuration changes within your environment.
VMware vSphere Performance Tools in VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 (HOL-2637-09-VCF-L)
In this lab, you’ll learn about esxtop, a command-line utility included with VMware ESX. The lab provides a detailed look at resource utilization, either in real time when used interactively or in batch mode to output statistics over time to a comma-separated value (CSV) file. It monitors host subsystems, including CPU, memory, disk, and networking, and is one of the most useful ways to troubleshoot performance issues on an ESX host.
