It’s now easier than ever to earn and maintain your VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) certification. Recent updates to the VMware Certification Program have made it more accessible, flexible, and valuable—helping you validate your skills and demonstrate up-to-date knowledge.
New VCF Certification Lifecycle
There’s no substitute for expertise in today’s fast-paced technology landscape. To ensure your certification truly reflects your knowledge and aligns with current industry standards, we are updating our policies. Our VMware Cloud Foundation certifications now have an expiration date and a 36-month renewal window. This ensures your VCF certification remains a current and accurate reflection of your expertise.
We’ve also streamlined the process; to earn or renew a certification, you only need to pass the relevant exam. Please note that exams passed under the previous structure cannot be applied to these new certifications.
Key changes:
- Upgrade paths – There are no current established upgrade paths via training. Information regarding certification renewal will be provided before your existing credentials expire.
- No year-based titles – Certification titles no longer include the year. Instead, the certification is linked to the specific exam passed and the certification date.
- Training and badges – Earning a certification badge requires successfully passing the relevant exam; completing training alone is not sufficient. The 36-month renewal policy is exclusive to VMware Cloud Foundation certifications. Broadcom Software certifications have a distinct renewal policy, which can be found in their policy documents here.
By ensuring certifications reflect the most up-to-date knowledge and skills, we are helping to build a highly skilled workforce capable of navigating the complexities of modern cloud infrastructure.
