We are pleased to announce the 2024 Forrester Consulting Total Economic ImpactTM Spotlights, which share customer benefits of managing a private cloud using VMware Cloud Foundation Operations and VMware Cloud Foundation Automation. Broadcom commissioned Forrester Consulting to interview customers who used these solutions to reveal the benefits that other customers could also gain if they used these solutions. Forrester has a methodology that helps customers understand a solution’s potential benefits and value.
These Spotlights consisted of interviews completed with customers and users from the financial services, industrial, and infrastructure companies that manage and maintain their IT infrastructure.
“VMware Cloud Foundation, offers a comprehensive platform for building and managing private or hybrid cloud environments. VMware Cloud Foundation leverages vSphere to create and manage virtual machines and containers providing a workload compute platform.”
“VMware Cloud Foundation Operations, which provides organizations with visibility into their cloud infrastructure from virtual machines (VMs) and containers to applications. This visibility allows organizations to optimize infrastructure through monitoring and alerting for rapid remediation.”
“VMware Cloud Foundation Automation, which is a cloud infrastructure automation solution that delivers a self-service private cloud. The solution empowers users with self-service consumption of Kubernetes and modernized cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) capabilities, allowing organizations to harness the power of a private cloud ecosystem. VMware Cloud Foundation Automation supports organizations that are looking to new technologies such as Kubernetes, open-source software, multiple clouds, and different operating models and practices like DevOps and platform engineering.”

Here were some of the customer perspectives and benefits revealed in the interviews with Forrester
“[VMware Cloud Foundation Operations] gave us enough observability within the space to be able to identify problems before they occur and start to capacity-plan properly so that we don’t run into a situation where we’ve now run out of resources on a particular cluster.” – Virtualization Specialist, Financial Services1
“Interviewees noted that VMware Cloud Foundation Operations allowed them to quickly prepare reports for management. In the past, it may have taken days to prepare reports, but now information is available when needed.”1
“Enabled self-service provisioning and reduced wait times. The interviewees explained that by creating a self-service environment for provisioning VMs, users could save weeks of lead time. The enterprise architect said: “Now, users can provision new VMs with [VMware Cloud Foundation Automation] in an hour or so and then spin out their old ones.” – Enterprise Architect, Global Industrial2

The recent Forrester studies highlight key benefits experienced by customers managing a unified private cloud with VMware Cloud Foundation Operations and VMware Cloud Foundation Automation. Through interviews with users from various industries, the Forrester studies reveal that these VMware Cloud Foundation components have significantly enhanced visibility and accelerated IT delivery with faster provisioning for virtual machines as well as improved efficiency when managing their IT infrastructure. Customers shared their improvements in resource management by enabling proactive capacity planning and performance monitoring. There were also benefits that customers shared which was faster report generation to share metrics and data about the infrastructure to their leadership for tracking progress. Additionally, the customers shared that the solutions reduced lead times for VM deployment. Overall, these solutions helped reduce costs and streamline processes, allowing customers to leverage their private cloud environments better.
