The Virtual SAN Team is honored to be recognized as having the most innovative product in the Virtualization category for the Best of Microsoft’s TechEd North America Awards, produced by Windows IT Pro (official link). The team was excited to be nominated as a finalist, and you can guess how thrilled we were when he heard the news about winning the virtualization category. More than 225 products were nominated for TechEd Awards this year with 29 finalists in nine categories. A judging panel of editors from Windows IT Pro evaluated the different products based on strategic importance, competitive advantage and value to customers.
Our team has been pleasantly surprised by the amount of attention and love we got from customers to date. From the early days of the public beta, when 90% of our beta participants said they believe that Virtual SAN is going to impact storage like vSphere impacted compute to winning numerous awards. We got attention not only from customers, but also a lot of coverage from the press and the analysts communities.
Recently, IT Brand Pulse conducted a survey covering several categories, including Software Defined Storage. VMware Virtual SAN won by a landslide in all SDS sub-categories (read more here):
The Best of TechEd marks the third award Virtual SAN has received in 2014. I was personally delighted to be the one receiving the award on behalf of the Virtual SAN team at Interop 2014 where we were awarded best in the Storage Category, and the audience choice award (you can read more about it here )
