VMware to Drive Adoption of ‘As-A-Service’ Model for On-Premises Data Centers with New Solutions for AWS Outposts

Today at re:Invent in Las Vegas, VMware previewed two new offerings—VMware Cloud on AWS Outposts and VMware Cloud Foundation for EC2—that will enable customers to build and deploy private data centers in an ‘as-a- service’ model with rich, enterprise-class capabilities. Both solutions will leverage AWS Outposts and include new, fully managed and configurable compute and storage racks built with AWS-designed hardware that allow customers to run compute and storage on-premises, while seamlessly connecting to the rest of AWS’s broad array of services in the cloud. Together these offerings will enable customers with a consistent infrastructure and operational experience across all VMware and AWS cloud environments.  Learn more.

Announcing New VMware Cloud on AWS Capabilities & its Expansion to AWS GovCloud (US)

Today at AWS re:Invent 2018, VMware announced the Initial Availability of VMware Cloud on AWS GovCloud (US) – in other words, bringing VMware Cloud on AWS to the AWS GovCloud (US) Region. This means we are now in a total of 10 AWS regions across 34 AWS Availability Zones globally. In addition, we are also announcing new capabilities for VMware Cloud on AWS.

Since we launched VMware Cloud on AWS last year at VMworld, we have received many requests from our customers and partners regarding expansion of the service to the Asia-Pacific region. We delivered on this promise in August with the launch of the service in the Asia-Pacific (Sydney) Region, and we are pleased to announce that we’ve expanded our footprint to include the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) Region. AWS and VMware Announce Amazon Relational Database Service on VMware

Today at VMworld 2018, Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS)  and VMware, announced Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) on VMware. Amazon RDS on VMware is a service that will make it easy for customers to set up, operate, and scale databases in VMware-based software-defined data centers and hybrid environments and to migrate them to AWS or VMware Cloud on AWS. Amazon RDS on VMware automates database management regardless of where the database is deployed, freeing up customers to focus on developing and tuning their applications.
