NCS and VMware – Taking on the COVID-19 Pandemic

VMware is pleased to commend NCS (Singapore) for winning our 2021 APJ Partner Social Impact Award for making a positive impact through the use of VMware technologies.

Each year, VMware’s Partner Achievement Awards honor a select group of VMware partners globally who have demonstrated outstanding results and innovation with the use of VMware products and solutions.

NCS wins the 2021 Social Impact Award for its stellar role in rapidly developing IT solutions using VMware software to tackle challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020 alone, NCS undertook around 20 projects related to social projects; of these, more than 10 were in response to COVID-19.

Rapid response to a crisis

When the COVID-19 pandemic first struck, Singapore saw a spike in cases in the early months of the pandemic, with the highest number of infections in Southeast Asia despite its relatively small population.

NCS worked on a variety of projects that used VMware solutions to help ensure the safety of the country’s residents during a critical time. Among these projects involved creating convenient temperature self-check kiosks that provided contactless temperature monitoring while reducing operational constraints at the same time. These kiosks were deployed at critical points to monitor the temperatures of incoming and outgoing foot traffic.

NCS also worked with VMware to quickly implement safe management and business continuity measures for many organizations in Singapore so that they could continue to operate without disruption during the pandemic.

Another notable project was enabling a school to quickly transition their employees to working from home. NCS deployed VMware solutions to launch a digital platform enabling staff to access all the school’s applications from devices enrolled on the platform. With VPN secure access to the school’s network and collaborative tools, the platform enabled staff to successfully cope with the challenges caused by the pandemic while maintaining their work momentum and connecting with colleagues.
