AsiaPac and VMware: Helping Financial Services Companies Adopt Technology Breakthrough Solutions

Each year, our VMware Partner Achievement Awards honor a select group of VMware partners globally who have demonstrated outstanding results and innovation with the use of VMware products and solutions. This year, we are delighted to applaud AsiaPac (from M1) for winning the 2021 Partner Value Award category for the Asia-Pacific and Japan region.

This award recognizes AsiaPac’s exceptional growth in building a successful VMware business and acknowledges AsiaPac’s track record in helping customers drive technology modernization and digital transformation, and creating value using VMware solutions.

Accolades for innovation and customer value

AsiaPac provides modernized managed data center infrastructure, hybrid cloud adoption, and enterprise computing device solutions to private and public sector customers in financial services, high-tech manufacturing, transport, education, healthcare, and commercial sectors.

Incorporated in 1990, AsiaPac over the years has built a solid reputation as a leading technology provider offering value-added products and end-to-end support and services to its customers. It was the first company to be appointed a Government Public Cloud Hosting Solutions Provider for AWS in Singapore and has won accolades for innovation and customer value across the Asia-Pacific region.

The Tech Breakthrough: Data center modernization and digital transformation

AsiaPac secured the 2021 VMware Partner Value Award with its outstanding efforts in helping Singapore’s biggest brokerage firm modernize its data center using VMware Cloud on AWS.

The firm was struggling with an aging data center infrastructure and wanted to embark on a data center modernization initiative. Working in close collaboration with VMware’s client and specialist teams, AsiaPac stepped in to provide expert advice, design and planning consultancy, and solutions that addressed the customer’s needs.

AsiaPac delivered end-to-end support and services throughout the customer’s lifecycle, including guiding the firm through VMware’s Cloud Discovery process to identify all cloud instances spanning applications, databases, virtual machines, containers, and related services. AsiaPac helped the firm migrate from its vSphere Environment to VMware Cloud on AWS, creating a secure, resilient environment with the scale and flexibility needed to support the firm’s growth.

AsiaPac also implemented VMware vRealize Operations for the customer, delivering a unified, AI-powered self-driving IT operations management platform for private, hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Delivering substantial savings and benefits

AsiaPac was able to reduce migration time by 50% at a 40% lower infrastructure cost. It helped the firm accelerate business time to market by 20%, reduced time to market for the customer’s applications and business services by 30% to 50%, and shaved deployment time from 18 months to less than 6 months.

The firm was able to reduce operational overheads in managing and maintaining its physical infrastructure and became more agile and scalable by leveraging the cloud. It was also able to meet regulatory compliance by maintaining a 99.99% service level uptime in the cloud environment. Ultimately, through this modernization initiative, the firm was able to position itself as a first mover in the financial services industry.

“We are honored to win this award and proud to be the first in Singapore to implement a major VMware Cloud on AWS project. This enabled our client to take advantage of the agile scaling capability of VMware Cloud and helped lower their overall cost by transiting from a CAPEX to OPEX model” said Daniel Cheng, Deputy Director, Strategic Business for AsiaPac.

“Our partnership with VMware has grown rapidly year-on-year, and we see great synergy in working together to deliver value to our collective clients in a complex multi-cloud environment. We value our relationship, and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with VMware.”
