Recognizing our relationship with the 2020 Regional and Global VMware Partner of the Year Award for Cloud Platform Transformation
Each year, VMware honors a distinguished group of global partners with the VMware Partner of the Year Awards for delivering exceptional results and innovation with the use of VMware products and solutions. The awards are divided into six categories, each with a global winner and three regional winners.
This year, we awarded Deloitte with both the Americas Regional and Global VMware Partner of the Year Award for Cloud Platform Transformation. The award underscores Deloitte’s success in utilizing VMware solutions to advance client journeys to hybrid, public, or multi-cloud—and aligning those technology and business transformations to help achieve greater organizational value. As a VMware Principal Partner, Deloitte has achieved the highest level of recognition within VMware’s Partner Connect program, which requires mastery of three distinct areas: Data Center Virtualization, Cloud Management and Automation, and Network and Security.

The current market landscape is driving Deloitte and VMware clients to investigate three specific areas to help ensure the successful modernization of their core businesses:

- Increased digital products and channel choices
Plus, as market shifts prompt our clients to venture into new industries or lines of business, companies are being challenged to react quickly, scale holistically and perform with agility in order to impact their bottom line. Business-led, application-driven digital transformation can support these needs (especially when change is needed in months, rather than years) but requires more than advice. Our teams understand that.
Depending upon the client’s challenge, Deloitte and VMware typically leverage a varied set of technology solutions and architectures to implement sustainable hybrid cloud solutions. Together, we can help to holistically transform IT ecosystems.
Bringing It to Life: Positioning Our Clients for Success
We asked Ranjit to describe where he’s seeing the most movement in the marketplace today. “Businesses are needing to rethink how they make products and deliver services,” he said. “Many core technologies are maturing and reaching the market now—including machine learning, facial recognition, blockchain, IoT, and sensor-based solutions.
“In a sense, we’re in the third inning of a nine-inning game, and the value we can provide is to set up our clients for success now and in the future. It’s an exciting time to see how the next six innings will play out as clients embrace new strategies to improve their business and the services they offer to their customers.”
And Deloitte and VMware are teaming to do just that. For instance, a large regional bank looked to modernize its core digital banking platform to provide a foundation for future growth through a low-cost, highly scalable operating platform and advancement of their digital banking capabilities. Deloitte’s team engaged with VMware to tackle the bank’s immediate challenge of migrating their on-premises data center and colocation facility in less than a year for a non-refactoring transformation.
In addition to leveraging the VMware platform (VMware Cloud on AWS, VMware Site Recovery Manager, vRealize Operations Manager, HCX and NSX-T) to support the client in implementing and operating their cloud infrastructure, service desk, and digital platform transformation, our teams will also support the bank’s future-ready requirements.
“We’re well into delivering our digital transformation journey,” Bawa says, “and the client is extremely satisfied—and is seeing great results.” Up next? Implementing future-ready automation and AI-enabled technologies for the bank.
Another example of teaming involved a large financial services institution that faced costly outages. They sought to reduce barriers to innovation—largely caused by complex and expensive legacy IT infrastructure and system—to improve agility, enable greater system availability and uptime, and reduce operational risk. Understanding the importance of being able to quickly recover from an outage, especially given the tremendous volume of information their data centers were processing every day, the client turned to the Deloitte and VMware alliance team. Together, Deloitte and VMware guided the organization through a broad infrastructure transformation and move to a multicloud environment that resulted in one of the largest global implementations of VMware Cloud on AWS to date. This encompassed 2,000 servers being moved within 5 weeks, the migration of 600 apps and +10,000 VMs in 12 months, and the improvement of security measures.
The result? The ability to refocus on business performance, guided by greater resilency through risk management and stress-testing and faster time to market through application and virtual machine migration.
