It is that time of the year again. Technology industry’s most beloved and popular event, VMworld, is just around the corner. The global pandemic has changed our lives forever. In a recent CNBC interview, our fearless leader, Pat Gelsinger, talked about the current status of being productive and efficient while working from home. He said he sees this in 3 phases – Respond, Adapt and Accelerate. He went on to say that we as a society responded well, and now we are in the phase of learning to adapt. Not only has the pandemic effected how we work every day, it has also greatly impacted industry events globally. Physical events, and large tradeshows had to quickly respond and adapt to this new normal. What used to be the place for partners and customers to come together and celebrate the innovations and new technological advances, now has shifted to online events, and have been adapting and progressing for six months now. One of the best outcomes from this shift is the accessibility and affordability it provides attendees. Customers who may have had tight budgets and resources to attend VMworld in the past, now have access to over 900+ on-demand and live sessions, right from their home office. This “new normal” allows for greater participation from the global community. So first and foremost, we encourage you to register for this event and experience the multitude of keynotes, live and on-demand sessions, first hand!
The HPE and VMware alliance is one of the most mature relationships in the industry. 200,000+ customers, 100,000+ partners, 25,000+ solution experts and one of the industry’s biggest virtualized compute installed base is an impressive accomplishment of this longstanding partnership. This relationship reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:
“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” – Henry Ford
For 19+ years this collaborative relationship has expanded, evolved and transitioned to meet and support some of the biggest pain points of our customers. This year is no different. We have focused relentlessly in the following key areas.
1. Enable business continuity and empower a remote work force
VMware Horizon View has been a market leader in delivering secure virtual desktops for our customers for many years. The platform is fully equipped to function in a hybrid cloud environment, integrating into VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), networking and security software stack. VDI is delivered as a fully automated workload domain in VCF. HPE has validated this solution in their flagship Synergy composable infrastructure and offers the same in a flexible consumption model through their GreenLake services. The demand of our customers for an agile and scalable solution to keep business as usual in these trying times have been met swiftly by our joint collaboration.
2. Simplify infrastructure acquisition, consumption, operations and management
HCI has revolutionized how infrastructure is consumed and managed in a hybrid world and VMware is proud to be the undisputed leader in this market segment. VMware vSAN has a strong innovation track adding game changing capabilities on an ongoing basis. In April, we launched an integrated life cycle management feature that allows customers to patch and update both firmware and drivers from vCenter. HPE has taken full advantage of this and is one of the first Global partners to integrate this into HPE vSAN ReadyNodes. HPE has simplified the ReadyNode portfolio so customers can buy the right configurations for the right workloads. Customers can also get the software, drivers and firmware pre-installed at HPE factory. It does not get any easier than this!
3. Drive towards delivering a consistent customer experience for multi-cloud journey
We believe VCF is the new vSphere. The same familiar IT operations management stack that has been helping our customers for years to virtualize their data centers, has now grown and matured to support our customers in their multi-cloud journey. VM admins can operate seamlessly across on-premise datacenters, public clouds and Edge with VCF. HPE is on a similar journey to provide infrastructure through GreenLake flexible consumption models. We have brought the best of both worlds together to build private clouds in a matter of hours and at the same time, provide customers the convenience to extend their workloads into public clouds and edge.
The pipeline of solutions coming from this partnership is stronger than ever. HPE is a Diamond sponsor for VMworld 2020 and has 4 on-demand sessions and 2 live sessions that will focus on solutions that address these key areas.
