The Partner Forum General Session welcomed over 2,500 partners to VMworld Europe and provided key insights on building and growing a comprehensive VMware practice. From data center to cloud, to professional services and consumption, partners heard about:

Building on the momentum from VMworld US, VMware continued to demonstrate its leadership and innovation at VMworld Europe in Barcelona by unveiling exciting new technologies and solutions that deliver on the company’s digital foundation vision. VMware’s interoperable cloud, mobility, and security software solutions form a secure and flexible digital foundation that enables your customers to respond to new opportunities and threats through any app, on any device, on any cloud. There are tremendous opportunities for you to take advantage of VMware’s momentum such as doubling-down on selling the full VMware solution and making big bets around Services and Cloud and increasing your profitability. VMware announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Heptio, a leader in the open Kubernetes ecosystem. Heptio’s products and expertise help organizations deploy and operationalize Kubernetes. VMware and Heptio will drive cloud native technologies forward to create more value for customers and the open source community. Read the Heptio blog
VMware announced the continued expansion of VMware Cloud on AWS in Europe and the US, along with enhancements that make VMware Cloud on AWS an even more compelling solution for disaster recovery, virtual desktops and applications, and large-scale cloud migrations. Our partners have also recognized the growing level of customer interest. We now have over 200 partners who are in the process of achieving the VMware Cloud on AWS Solution Competency – just six months since the partner program was announced in March 2018.
VMware Cloud on AWS will be available in the following AWS regions: AWS Europe (Ireland), AWS West (N. California) and AWS East (Ohio) in Q4 2018. This regional expansion provides partners with more options for helping Enterprises architect and deploy hybrid clouds. Advancements to Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) for VMware Cloud on AWS provides partners the ability to help customers protect large scale environments, doubling the number of VMs supported to 1,000 per SDDC.
VMware is empowering European-based partners such as OVH, Telefonica, Tieto to deliver new and differentiated services to their customers – all built on the world’s most powerful, most widely deployed cloud infrastructure. The list of VMware Cloud Verified partners has grown to 27, including more than a dozen partners across Europe, up from only five a year ago.
New VMware Validated Designs (VVDs) for Cloud Providers are now available, enabling partners to build and operate VMware cloud infrastructure for a wide range of use cases and provide a fast, proven path to achieving VMware Cloud Verified status. Previously announced solutions across the Cloud Provider Platform are now generally available, including VMware Cloud Provider Pod, VMware vCloud Director 9.5, VMware vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR, and VMware vCloud Usage Insight.
IBM and VMware announced new offerings to accelerate enterprise hybrid cloud adoption. This includes a new IBM Services offering to help migrate and extend mission-critical VMware workloads to the IBM Cloud, and new integrations to enable enterprises to modernize applications with Kubernetes and containers. To date, the IBM and VMware partnership has helped more than 1,700 enterprises including Banca Carige and CNH Industrial adopt IBM Cloud for VMware solutions.
VMware unveiled a new release of its integrated hybrid cloud offering to help customers more easily deploy and operate their cloud environments. VMware is introducing VMware Cloud Foundation 3.5 to provide customers with greater deployment options, new Kubernetes support, and the latest innovations from VMware’s leading infrastructure and management portfolio. VMware Cloud Foundation offers the fastest way for customers to build an integrated hybrid cloud by delivering a comprehensive set of software-defined services for compute, storage, networking, security, and cloud management to run enterprise applications in hybrid cloud environments.
Dell EMC announced a preview of VMware Cloud Foundation on Dell EMC VxRail. The combination of Dell EMC VxRail and VMware Cloud Foundation is expected to offer customers the simplest way to build a private cloud with enterprise-rich features including multi-site and multi-cluster with fully automated deployment and lifecycle management of the entire stack.
VMware also unveiled vRealize Network Insight 4.0. The latest release will be able to troubleshoot application connectivity in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
VMware PKS Partner Competency Coming Q1 FY20
VMware PKS is a comprehensive Kubernetes solution for enterprises to deploy, manage, and operationalize containers on VMware vSphere and public clouds. It significantly simplifies the deployment and management of Kubernetes clusters with efficiency, security, and multi-cloud support. VMware PKS is a jointly developed product by VMware and Pivotal. To help grow business opportunities for PKS and enable our channel partners build new practices, we announced a VMware PKS Partner Competency which will be available in the Q1 FY20 timeframe. To date, VMware and Pivotal teams have led the sales of VMware PKS. As VMware PKS continues to gain momentum, we are looking to scale through the channel to better serve and support enterprise needs. VMware unveiled new capabilities to its intelligence-driven VMware Workspace ONE platform that provide modern management and security advancements for customers’ heterogeneous environments as well as richer employee experiences across more apps and devices. Leveraging new in-platform innovations and integrations that tie into ecosystem partner solutions, Workspace ONE continues to expand the breadth and depth of platforms and capabilities that organizations can tap into.
Workspace ONE boasts an extensive list of capabilities that continues to expand as VMware collaborates with leading technology companies to transform customers’ digital workspace environments. New innovations announced today include:
- Workspace ONE Intelligence Automation Connector
- Workspace ONE Sensors for macOS.
- Dell Provisioning for VMware Workspace ONEis a service from Dell that preconfigures devices in the factory and ships directly to end users for a ready-to-work experience with all Windows applications pre-loaded and available immediately to users on first boot.
